"If the Euroleague sent their two best teams this year to play Sacramento and Washington, I'd think the Euros would win. No matter what the rules were."
Thats like saying the best two MLS teams could take on the worst two Premier League teams.

He goes onto say, "The game could potentially energize depressed fan bases in Sacramento and Washington who haven't seen their teams play meaningful basketball in months."
Depressed my ass, who hasnt been taking their Xanax? Perhaps happily medicated but not depressed, not any more at least. But i shouldnt get defensive, lord knows the kings dont.

Context- Ideas to improve All Star Weekend- instead of the Rookie v Soph game have 3 games, Rookies v. Dleague All Stars and then the two worst NBA teams play the best two Euro teams. At least our whole team goes to the All star weekend in this hypothetical but we LOSE... no matter what the rules are and we'd be playing a home game in another city, scary thought.

Thorpe might be cruel

But he’s probably right. Kings would definitely lose. They lost to the Wizards for goodness sake.

It may be true, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a stupid unworkable idea.

So 28 teams get an extended rest and 2 teams have to go on a road trip? It will never happen, it could never happen, it should never happen and it was stupid to have been put out there as an idea.

I have an idea, why don’t we have the two teams with the best records play the top 2 non-US national teams from the previous Olympics/World Championships during All-Star Weekend. Those would be much better games, with more stars, a much bigger draw for the league, and guess what? It’s a fucking stupid idea, because it will never happen.

Thats why its the two worst teams,

if you have the two best teams, youre right it isnt fair but since its the two worst franchises chances are they wont be playing for anything except lotto balls down the stretch. This, in theory, rejuvenates the fanbase at a point when all but the die hards have stopped watching.

You took a feasible idea and tried to say its the same as having certain playoff teams lose rest while foreign national teams would have to be reunited with their foreign league players and their NBA players, so potentially more players from the NBA’s top teams would be losing rest. This is NOT the same as the two worst teams playing the best two European Clubs. The idea may have its problems: how do you get the Euros to agree or the cost, during what are cost cutting times but rest? for the two worst teams in the association? i dont think that will or should be the decider.

Id love, just LOVE to screw a 1000 virgin girls at once but its never going to happen, does that make it a stupid idea?

If it is undoable then suggesting it is a good solution is stupid
You took a feasible idea and tried to say its the same as having…

That’s my point. I don’t think his idea is in any way feasible, fair, doable, or probable, and thus the suggestion was stupid.

As for your virgin example, it would be stupid if you suggested in a public forum that you were making the attainment of this goal the basis for all of your future decisions.

How is his idea not fair, doable, probable(i agree here but still would like elaboration), and thus stupid. Especially the “thus stupid” part bc i think any convo about making something broke better is smarter than no conversation at all.

I understand 28 teams would rest while the last two would be forced to travel, but are you telling me that this travel is what will keep the Kings and Wizards out of the playoffs? It would give fans of Sac and Washington (no all stars on either team) a reason to be interested in the game, it would be a rare national stage for the players involved(not many last place teams are on the TNT sched), and it would bring more basketball to the weekend which is enough to satisfy most junkies.

If you had talked about the logistics of getting Euro teams over here or the cost of the event i would understand and probably agree to disagree but using rest and whats FAIR as the backbone of your argument….no respect.

The virgins tidbit was only in response to “It will never happen, it could never happen, it should never happen and it was stupid to have been put out there as an idea.” and “It’s a fucking stupid idea, because it will never happen.” Im never going to sleep with a 1000 or even 100 virgins at once but im not about to call it a stupid idea solely because it will never happen.

and Id be a martyr

if the virgin example is, as you say “the basis for all of (my) future decisions” 71 or however many they are promised is far more than i could ever realistically imagine myself with…even as handsome as i am.

I feel that any move that would have one or two teams

doing extra work while the rest of the league rests is not feasible, fair, doable, or probable and thus a stupid idea.

You disagree? Fine.

All-Star weekend is a great weekend off ofr me

If the Kings weren’t rumored to make a deal, it would be an all weekend off for me. (I love how little I cared about anything basketball related this weekend. It rocked!)

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....

You know whats a good idea?

Having instead of a Rookie-Sophomore game, a Rookie-NBDL All-Star game. This gives the D League a chance to shine. All credit goes to Rod Benson for the idea.

Great, take two beaten down franchises and fan base

and embarass the crap out them even more.

Do we get to point and laugh too? Do we exclude their players from the All-Star game as well? WTF.

I do love the Bill Simmons suggested school style All-Star pick’em at the bottom of the link.

it would be the day before the game

and i think NBA athleticism will always stand a chance especially if its our rules and our three point line to spread the defense and thus make penetration harder to stop.
