Luckily for me, and more so for the rest of you, Pookey analyzed the Miller/Salmons/Noc trade briliantly. I was going to do a piece on the trade myself (and it admittedly wouldn't have been as good, because he has a better understanding of the cap & tax rules than I do). But, I must say that I really enjoyed his posting and wholly agree with what he said in it.
So, not needing to address yesterday's trade, and having given Pook his proper due, I would like to recognize another person who has been working tirelessly to keep us diehard Kings fans (and the rest of the nation) abreast of the trade deadline frenzy. Sacramento's own, Mr. Samuel Amick.
Sam has been ridiculous with his coverage of NBA trade rumors. From blogging on the sacbee, to addressing points raised in the message boards of said blog, to doing radio shows to being quoted/referrenced by national media (ESPN, et al), Sam is blowing up. I mean, for Christ's sake, the guy is the Ryan Seacrest of NBA reporting!
So, I salute thee, Mr. Amick. You have kept us in the loop (in damn near real-time, even!) and have done an amazing job. Your national recognition is more than well-deserved. My only fear is that you will soon be plucked from our local paper and taken away to do what you do on a bigger stage.
Have I overstated my appreciation? I think not. Have I given credit where it is due? I think so. Have I hinted to the possibility that I might have a small man-crush on Amick? I don't know (I'm too afraid to explore that dark avenue, my friends).
But the point is this: Sam kicks ass. We should all let him know that we appreciate the effort.
