New Blog: World Soccer Digest for Soccer Fans!

The Knicksblog is passing on some of Stephen A. Smith's intellectual property. Chris Bosh will not resign with Toronto in 2010. Toronto may be looking to trade Bosh. Sacramento is not listed as a potential trade destination as S.A.S. is only concerned about readership from the top 5 media markets.

Hoopsworld is reporting that Anthony Randolph fired his agent. Speculation is that he might be requesting a trade to a team that will commit to developing him.

If I find material on Hoopshype, but they link to the Knicksblog, who gets the cred?

With a hat tip to Hoopshype for finding it.

Chris Bosh is the free agent I covet more than all the others from that draft cass. Lebron doesn’t count because there’s just no way he signs here. Is Sac an upgrade over Toronto as far as what a guy like Bosh would be looking for concerning exposure? At least we’re in the USA right lol? the weather is better, and he can eat at Center Court I suppose, but how much more money would we have to offer to coax the all-star level talent to sign here instead of the usual F.A destinations mentioned?

I wanted to adopt, but all the good looking babies were taken

MAX

I imagine that if Bosh is acquired, he would be offered a MAX deal. As the team with his Bird Rights will be able to offer more money, whomever has him before he becomes a FA will be the front runner. In short, a trade like this is Sacramento’s best chance to land one of the major FA’s in the class of 2010.

The questions become:

  • What does it take to acquire him via trade? (probably starting with JT, Salmons, & Houston’s #1 . . . unless they like Miller!)
  • Is it worth the gamble that he walks anyway for less money? (hint: yes)

Bosh is great

but not worth a Max contract IMO

In that case

He’d be “great” somewhere else.

I don’t know what definition of “worth” that you’re using, but there aren’t that many players ahead of him in the L, and there are certainly plenty of teams who don’t have one of those other guys who would want him.

He’ll get a Max deal (or VERY close to it), the question is whether it’s on the open market or via his Bird Rights.

Out of curiosity, what do you think Boozer is worth, since you’re high on acquiring him?

I think 15-16 mil or so

for either of them is all a small market team could swing. To NY? Who knows? But they can’t sign them all.

Well...

They all work off of the same Salary Cap, so I don’t know there there’s that much of a difference when talking about signing FA’s (retaining players is a different story).

I think that $15-16 is about right for Boozer, but I think that Bosh will get a few million more.

I am wondering about Bosh

At the moment he is far from being the best offensive player of Raptors and it is questionable whether he still is the best defensive player of the team. When you browse some (intelligent, e.g. Raptors HQ) Raptors blogs, you will see fans being disappointed of him, whether it is about his current game, mental liability or questions of future (whether or not he resigns and about the ideas of making him happy).

In many ways, Bosh is similar to Martin. He is a rather one-dimensional player, still more and more relying on his outside jumpshot that is pretty good, but not sufficient to win games regularly. He struggles to take responsibility to change the course of game and can be easily defended in terms of his inside game (as he does not give much effort inside and does not develop, really). His defense and rebounding is slightly more-than average. He is very competitive and a good passionate teammate, but rather when his team is winning, when losing, the emotional leaders of such weak squad as Raptors are are other players (Calderon, Parker), which is shame. I am not sure about his ego, but his statements about wanting to be a MVP and how he handled this, along with all the hype about ‘making Chris happy so he would resign’ does not help that.

Summarily, I would say that Bosh is slightly below the level of Gasol (who is more-dimensional player and much reliable mental force with successful leadership experiences, at least from his national team) and Stoudemire (who, maybe benefiting from playing with Nash is uncomparable low-post presence and comparable high-post presence, while being at around the same level as rebounder and a slightly better defender). Bosh is couple of years younger, though. I don’t think any of these players is worthy of the max-level. A fair price for Bosh would be around the Martin’s level, as he is a big man, slightly higher.

Nice analysis

Boozer is at least more a proto-type PF, what PFs are supposed to do – he does very very well.

I wasn’t aware that Stephen A. Smith had any intellectual property… I guess the screaming schtick could be a copyright, but he doesn’t have any worthwhile ideas of his own, does he?

When he writes them

He’s actually a damn good writer. It’s his screaming A schtick that soured people on him. (Especially in Philly where he rights for the Inquirer.)

Intellectual Property

because he probably made up this news himself. I can’t attest to his accuracy and legitimacy in writing. But I’ve watched him talk out of his ass so many times that I devalue anything he says, or writes.
