According to a source close to the Spurs, San Antonio has interest in Salmons or Miller and the only way of landing one of them may be by way of the man who so many Kings fans despise. ... Enter [Robert] Horry, who would re-sign with San Antonio for this season only in a deal worth (insert necessary $ figure here) and then be traded. He would then be waived by the Kings while chuckling on his way out the door with a huge check in hand, with the Kings also possibly taking back Michael Finley (expiring deal worth $2.5 million) and getting out from underneath a contract (Salmons or Miller) they no longer see as part of the big picture plan. ... The part where this likely falls apart - if it's ever discussed at all - is the Kings wanting more.

If this goes through, make him come play for his money. You know he won’t, therefore they dont’ have to pay him, and essentially he is used by us, his rep takes a hit, and that is how his career ends. Revenge is sweet!

If all we get for Salmons is expiring contracts

GP would deserve to be publicly hung. Does that earn me a Captain Hyperbole?

Nope

Pretty succinct. Salmons has to be worth more than expiring, unless they’re clearing him for something huge.

I agree

If they want Miller than can have him but Salmon’s is worth a let more.

HELL TO THE FUCKING NO!

Fuck Robert Horry! Plain and simple!

...

Why bother with this rumor? Petrie isn’t trading either just for cap space alone.

by sactown on Feb 7, 2009 1:53 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

On the other hand:

Does anyone else think it’d be hilarious to keep Horry and force him sit at the end of the bench, watching every miserable Kings game just admonishing himself “Oh God, look what I’ve done! This is terrible. My eyes are bleeding!”

Also, I wouldn’t mind helping San Antonio add another piece to help them through the Playoffs if it helped them topple the Lakers.

It's to Horryrific to contemplate

Unless we make him watch some games from the bench with a Hello Kitty backpack on, and then send him to Reno!

Hell NOOOOOOOOOOO

We need some draft picks & Spurs don’t have that. (first round picks). I like the OKC idea & plus Miller & K9 to Miami for Marion

Interesting though

Robert Horry as a trade chip. Didn’t even think of it, who knew a big penis would warrant that much free money.

There's no way this works.

Just run the trade machine. Even if they throw in someone like Bonner, it’s ridiculous without any picks. If this happens it’s the Maloofs signaling that the Boo-birds last night pissed them off enough to waive the white #4 Jersey, tank for the rest of the year, cut cash, and hope CWebb is able to obtain the 1st ’09 pick in a dissimilar fashion than how he tried to obtain an extra TO in Michigan.

& FUCK HORRY & FINLEY! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO AN ALREADY FRAGMENTED FAN BASE?

If yr not happy with the results, lower yr expectations.

Robert Horry broke my heart

If we bring him over, we should make an official, “Beat the crap out of Robert Horry day” where they fill the stadium with fans, and just have Robert in the middle of the court. I’d pay tickets to that.

And how bad is it when the Kings even contemplated Robert Horry being ever mentioned as a Sacramento King. Petrie better not do it.

by Aykis16 on Feb 7, 2009 2:25 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

In all seriousness...

How much money would a Robert Horry Dunk Tank make in Sacramento?

His favorite charity should really get on that.

I don't like the deal

But it has nothing to do with Horry. Vlade smacked the ball out to him instead of grabbing it or knocking it out of bounds. Horry made the shot. It sucked. That one game didn’t cost us the series.

I don’t like the deal because there are no draft picks or any young talent, it’s a pure salary dump. Still, better sooner than later, I guess…

I don't like the deal cuz there isn't a young player coming back

Maybe throw the rights to Splitter in there? I don’t know. But just those deals by themselves? No thanks.

Good Question

I don’t think San Antonio has the right kind of asset’s to get this type of deal done.

Splitter is never coming

He’d have to go back to making 800k or whatever (per his 30th pick spot) for four years and he’s making about 4 mil in Europe….

all coming from a source close to the Spurs and then speculation. No way Petrie would do Sacramento like that. Fuck Horry.

Can we get Mahinmi?

Is he worth getting? Can we swing a three-way with Memphis that ends up giving us Conley? Can the Kings play Robert Horry at center against Dwight Howard, Yao Ming and Tyson Chandler?

Important questions.

A 3 way with San Antonio & Memphis is worth exploring

I’m not sure San Antonio has any asset’s that Memphis wants. Conley’s improved play as of late is going to make it more difficult to get him as well.

It's also possible IW

That Memphis won’t give up on Conley period. They may be happy with him as he’s been playing better under Lionel Hollins.

He only became available because he was struggling to mesh his game with mayo

But I think Hollins has impressed upon everyone that Mayo doesn’t drive to the cup really, and that’s what Conley does best at this point. If I was Memphis, I wouldn’t give him up, especially since he’s a quality passer as well.

Horry

would not play, period. He’s retired. He would essentially by like Keith Van Horn was for the Jason Kidd deal last year. Since Horry last played for the Spurs they can sign and trade him. If we could get some of their younger prospects it wouldn’t be a bad idea. San Antonio knows how to pick guys so I’m all for taking some away from them.
