Great link

Thanks KFFCE.

This quote seems pertinent:

It will depend on how I finish up the season, because if I don’t perform well, maybe the interest of NBA teams in me decreases and I’ll leave it for another year. You never know what’s going to happen.

That jives with all the “if he’s top 3, he’ll enter” talk from fellows like Chad Ford.

by Ziller on Mar 12, 2009 8:07 AM PDT reply actions

Odds are he will enter the draft.

Like I have said before, unless his agent is Bonzi Wells agent and gives him bad advice…. Rubio will enter the draft because he will make more money off of endorsements if he does. Have you seen the NIKE shoes he has been wearing? Even though his basketball contract will pay him more in Europe then the NBA next year, his endorsements will pay him 10X more to make up for it. If NIKE want’s him to play in the NBA next year, I can assure you he will. Just call NIKE and they’ll tell you.

I thought this was interesting
True, but I’m not afraid, I have things under control and I’ve always said that age doesn’t count. When you’re playing on court it doesn’t mind if you’re 16, 18 or 25, no one is going to stop and look to your I.D., they’re only going to judge you on how you perform.

Seriously, on a real note, that sounds like a guy unafraid of what the NBA does to young PG’s, or for that matter since it’s probably more pressing in the immediate sense, the Spanish League.

Screw Griffin

Give me some Rubio! I don’t care if we have to wait a year to get him.

It's all about that buyout I would guess

If it’s lowered to the point where he can pay it reasonably, or someone else (like NIke) could pay it for him, then yeah, I think you’ll see that happen.

Yeah

I think that’s the biggest determining factor. He may very well declare this year, but in the end, It’s always about the money.

What I like a lot about what he said, is that he values the show, values his performance. He’s an entertainer.

I don’t think about it, seriously. I’m not going to play better because they come to see me. I can only hope they have a good time and enjoy like everybody else.

A second-coming of white chocolate? Less flash, more skill? Please Lord. Please Petrie.

Or maybe

Just as much flash, with a greater ability of skill and seriousness to make the flash worthwhile.

I'll take it

and hopefully a little less dope too. I can do without him running me off Auburn-Folsom in his white lowered navigator.

In retrospect, I had my learners permit at the time, I would totally take it to J-Will now.

Not a good road to be run off either

That road is nasty to drive up in awful weather too. (I hated driving on Auburn Folsom road when I drove a cab. I once had to change a tire out there, and it was not a soothing experience. Then again, I once had to change a tire on Biz 80 too. There’s never a soothing experience.)

Wouldn't be that bad

except the ditches there are 5ft deep and there’s no shoulder. And it’s a 45 mph road that everyone drives 65 on. But a tire change on Biz 80? That’s just a shitty day.

Had to change one once @ Arden

Cuz the pavement was so hot (it was like July or something), and that was probably the worst day I ever had changing a tire. (And I wasn’t even driving either. That’s really what pissed me off.)

Would Nike buy him out

knowing that he’ll likely be playing in a small market like Sac?

I don't think it matters

Rubio’s appeal extends well beyond whatever local market he happens to be in the NBA.

ohpleaseohplease

I am in platonic sports fan guy love with Rubio. I am afraid that I like him so that if we get the #3 pick or the #1 and pick Griffin it will ruin my hopes. He is so freaking great.

I wonder how the 'family' issue comes into a decision

a big deal for an 18 yr old being far from from home, a different language, no family, no friends, and a lot of hype. Scary. The ‘I wish things were going slower’ comment makes me wonder.

But I suppose we’ll find out soon.

And, among other things, it’s not like there’s a shortage of Spanish speakers around the 916 either….

Plus...

with all the housing developments that went up without selling in the Sac area he could buy a whole block of houses for his family. They can even name the street after him. Hell, they can name anything in Sacramento after him. I vote we call the new arena Rubio Square Garden!

I wonder how he'll adjust to there being no bullfights in America

we all know how much they like bullfights in Spain, and that could be tough for him. We’d better pick Thabeet just to be safe.

Especially on the Kings. Isn’t that our strategy on defense….?? Ole!! Oleee!!!
