Remember the good old days?

Bobby broke his cheek in his first stint with the Kings and played anyway. Then Peaches Napear accused a GUY WHO PLAYED WITH A BROKEN FACE of faking an abdominal injury. Bobby Jackson = Basketball hero. Peaches = Major A-hole.

Don't insult...

Major A-holes like that. Peaches is the stuff that comes OUT of a major a-hole.

by avishai on Mar 14, 2009 4:28 PM PDT up reply actions

I knew it had to be something major

For Bobby Jackson to leave the game. This sucks for us. But I think Bobby will end up playing, probably with a mask. Or Cisco might let Beno borrow Cassell’s cojones for the rest of the season so he can play.

Bad news

Looks like Bobby J will be out for the game tomorrow and Solomon will be replacing him in the lineup, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Great

The game in Washington will be the only game I see in person this year, and we’re starting Will Solomon at the point. The game that will help decide who ends up dead last in the league, the game that will decide whether or not we can manage a single victory against the Eastern Conference, and we’re starting Will Solomon as our point guard in it.

If you watch the game and see someone vomiting in the upper decks, it’s probably me.

by twasserm on Mar 14, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Yea that sucks but

I think Solomon deserves a look this season as he may be worth a minimum contract next year, especially if BJax calls it quits. This may be his opportunity. I already like his game better than Beno’s(not really saying much).

Solomon

Will Solomon might be better than Beno. That’s not saying much about our point guard situation. But it says a lot about Beno.

by Carl on Mar 14, 2009 3:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Solomon

Lots of angst here over Will Solomon. Not quite sure I get it.

In eight games for the Kings he’s playing 15 minutes a game, is third on the team in PER, is tied for first in true shooting percentage, leads the team in eFG, is tied for first in steal, has the second lowest turnover % per 100 possessions, is third on the team in points per 36 minutes, is shooting 56% on threes and 50% overall.

Yes, he’s a shoot first point guard, and it seems like some would prefer someone who only passes the ball. He may not fit your prototype, but frankly, not too many in the league do, and none of them are wearing Kings unis.

I agree

He’s much better than expected, IMO.

Not a Solomon fan

And the stats certainly do not support me.

It’s in my gut, mostly. He’s over 30, and he does not seem to possess great court vision (though some of that could be attributed to not having much time in with this team).

I guess I don’t mind if the he is on the Kings’ roster. I just quiver over the fact that we are so bad at PG that we actually need him to log legitimate minutes.

There has to be another solution. There just has to be.

Solomon is certainly not a solution

Nor is Beno. I’m happy that Solomon has stuck with it so long that he’s actually playing decent minutes with decent production in the NBA. It’s not like Solomon is going to be the starting point guard of the Kings next year. He might earn himself a one year deal, which is good for him. The Kings (obviously) need to go with younger players at that position for the forseeable future.

I heard some kid outta europe might be kinda good

;-p

But seriously, if BJax retires, we could use a veteran pg as a stopgap until RR (crosses fingers) is ready to assume a starting role. I really don’t see Rubes starting from day one, although to be fair I’ve never seen him play other than highlight clips. Solomon may just fit the bill, at the right price.

I'd rather have Rubio starting

over any other PG on our roster not named BJax. Solomon’s been surprising and Beno’s been pretty disappointing. I’d rather throw Rubio in there next season to develop rather than playing either of those two. I’d prefer Bobby be the starter but split the PG minutes with Ricky

Does it really matter.

B-Jackson probably won’t be with the team next year.

No sense playing injured for the sake of nothing.

I’ll miss his energy and wish him all the best in his future.

He might make a great addition as an assistant to the new Coach we will be hiring.

after the season Bobby Jackson has had

you want him to retire? Not happening.

He wants to be in here (Sacramento) and management wants him here. Fans want him here. The guy has game, or have you not noticed?

by betweentheeyes on Mar 15, 2009 12:37 PM PDT up reply actions

I heard a recent interview with B-Jax

He is soooooooo tired of the losing.

As much as he likes it here, I could see him signing with a title contender for the veteran minimum.

by section214 on Mar 15, 2009 12:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah I could see that too

I’m not really going to cry either way. If Bobby would make a difference, I don’t know that it could be any different than the impact Reef is currently making, and I find it difficult to believe that B Jax would have a great time influencing a young shoot first PG into a young pass first PG. Players are what they are.

Ii do think he may stick around for the veteran's minimum

but if he were to go to a contender to get a ring I would be happy for him and would be cool with it. Section and Pooie, you guys make very valid points
