The Kings stand at 15 win with only 5 games left that they have a reasonable (still underdogs) chance of winning,Grizzlies, @Warriors,Warriors,@Clippers and @ T-wolves..The Wizards.unless Arenas gives them a serious boost, are at 16 wins with the Bobcats,@Grizzlies @Raptors and Raptors. The 17 win Grizzlies have only 3 chances, at Kings @Warriors and @Wizards while the 17 win Clippers also only have 3 T-wolves Kings and Thunder all at home. That leaves all 4 teams capable of reaching 20 wins maximum barring any upset wins.
The worst team gets 250 out of a 1000 ping pong ball combinations, the 2nd worse team gets 199. In case 2 teams tie for worse they would each get 224 combinations with a coin flip for the 1 combination left over.
To my way of thinking if the Kings lose to either the Grizzlies or Clippers then there is probably no chance that they would catch them in wins. If they lose to both, only the Wizards would be competition for worse record (Go Agent Zero).
The only real thing finishing last guarantees is picking no worse than 4th...I would like that guarantee going into the lottery...things have been known to go haywire.
Griffin would make up for Hawes and Thompson only being slightly above average rebounders, and I believe it would be an effective , cheap playoff combination of 3 bigs for the near future. Then throw all our available cash into a top 10 point guard.
If we get #2, Rubio is the guy and we throw all the spare cash for a quality big..not as good a plan but acceptable.
We know things will be going well next year if our first 4 players off the bench are Garcia Nocioni Griffin and Udrih (may he never start again).
