Interesting quotes from Theus - it's hard to figure out the relationship between Kenny and the franchise, it's also hard to figure out why Natt played him out of the blue earlier this season (and he played effectively), then velcroed him back to the bench.

Also, Bill Bradley notes in his "Leading Off" column today that Kenny Natt only had 2 practices in the recent 4 day break. WTF?

20 games to go

and it sounds like there is no effort to hide the fact that they are packing it in. Otherwise these guys should be practicing their butts off. (new players, no cohesive style, even figuring out who the Kings want to keep or let leave).

Does this mean Kenny Natt realizes he won’t be back as Head Coach or does this mean he is confident that he will?

I hadn't noticed that Kenny was no longer traveling with the team.

Its hard to feel for a guy who could have opted out but instead chose to end his NBA career as one big DNP-CD.

Exactly

Kenny knew where this was headed. He took the money.

Here’s your $17 million. Now quit your bitchin.

So to recap

There is no reason why the Kings have left such a talent out of their rotation, especially at a position where they have been deficient (for the most part) since Chris Webber got hurt.

What a crock of crap.

I don't blame either side, really

The Kings can’t play Kenny because he’s an offensive liability, lost whatever skills he had and young guys need the minutes. Kenny is pissed because he’s still a borderline NBA player (Varejao isn’t much better, to be honest) but never plays.

I suppose I’m with ttyler – if Kenny really wanted to play, he could have opted out. As it stands he’ll be lucky to get an NBA minimum deal next season.

by Carl on Mar 8, 2009 5:07 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Offensive liability?

I’m no expert, but my observation is that the Kings problems don’t seem to be on the offensive side of the ball, but with defense and rebounding.

I’m with 214 on this. And ain’t one of you that would leave millions on the table, so cut the crap.

I wouldn't leave million on the table but...

I would show up with a smile and the best suits 7 million could buy with matching pompoms. Kenny Thomas was the absolute worst starter in the NBA before he lost his job, let’s not look at his stats before he came here and wonder why he’s sitting. He had plenty of opportunity to earn his minutes and he failed. I feel bad for the guys who have to sign this guys pay checks, not the guy who forgot how to put a round ball in a hoop when he was getting paid 8+ million a year to do so.

I wonder...

If I got one rebound in one minute of a game would Aileen say the Kings should play me because I average 48 rebounds a game?

Why is Petrie

so disinterested in a KT buyout? Makes no sense.

And you know that they haven't offered and been rejected by K9?

Naww

just didn’t think it through before I posted. There’s no reason for KT to take a dollar less in his buyout and there’s no reason for the Kings to release the asset of his expiring contract without significant savings.

yep

If K9 had something left in the tank and felt he could play into another contract, there was a possibility. But I don’t think that’s the case, so pretty much any buyout would end up costing him money.

Still a chance -

I’m guessing a small one, that we get something for him at the deadline next yr.

K9 really is not a part of the Kings

I think of him as already gone. Shock is a better rebounder Ailene is in her typical element here.
