DKV remain hopeful of keeping Rubio
The Badalona club's president Jordi Villacampa spoke about DKV’s intention to keep Rubio in an exclusive interview with FIBA.com earlier this season and he hasn’t changed his stance.

The president is playing hard to get I think
Given the bad economy and the empty sits in Arco, the Maloofs won’t be very enthusiastic to get into buyout negotiations for Rubio. They might be relieved if we don’t pick him.
What do you mean?
I don’t believe they’re allowed to pay that buyout(?)

If the buyout is 3 million
can’t they sign him to a 13 million endorsement contract, when they would’ve only offered 10 million if the buyout weren’t an issue?

Or hell, just sign him to a $5 mil contract
and between that and the NBA salary he’ll be in the black.

I've never heard of a rule where a shoe company can't pay the buyout
It’s just never happened.

And if Nike is hot to trot over Rubio
They’ll definitely do anything to get him over here.

True
And I’m not arguing the point. But, is that Rubio’s fault?

it takes alot of morals
to give up $10 million dollars to make a point against child labor. I don’t think I could do it.

I really wasn't trying to make a political statement
First off the kids can use the extra money. No, I was just implying that Nike is already planning for him to enter. And, the want to have the shoes on the shelves by Christmas.

No political statement
How do you expect to get people cursing during the offseason if you don’t bring up politics or religion? The big guy little guy debate can only carry us so far!

If I get desperate I'll suggest that we trade Martin.

Okay, so here's my question
We get the number two pick. Griffin is gone. Rubio has entered the draft, but there is no guarantee that he will come over this year. Do we go ahead and draft him, even though he might not play for us next year? Basically, if Griffin is gone is it better to have the rights to Rubio than anyone else on the board? My general thought would be that if Rubio is there we have to take him even if it means having him stay in Europe another year. Thoughts/

Agreed
If it is determined that Rubio is clearly the best player available, you grab him, even if you have to wait a year for his arrival. That won’t help you sell tickets this year, but the name of the game is assembling the best assets available. The Kings would then enter 2010 with Rubio, another great draft pick, cap space, Hawes, JT, Martin…
However, if a guy like Tyreke Evans (for example) lights it up in his work out, you take him and don’t look back.

I'm tired of this debate
I really am. It’s boiling down to the same things, and we don’t even know whom our pick is going to be. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised that NBA GM’s believe that Rubio or Griffin could be a franchise player (although I don’t see it in Griffin for sure—and am wary to believe that Rubio without more anecdotal evidence can be that), and I would be greatly surprised that Tyreke Evans could get there. Anybody else other than Brandon Jennings doesn’t even have that type of talent in the draft in my opinion.

waiting a year should not be a problem
in my opinion

Yeah, I mean, what's another 17-win season
Rubio and John Wall?
Donte? Donte'! Donté?!?!

or whatever the name of the next college freshman stud or European can't miss is
talent is dynamic, and for the Kings unfortunately, their win total is not – expect more of the same for 2010. So yes, if Rubio, or Wall or whomever, does not enter the draft this year – there is always the season following.
I hear this guy is available

but he has trouble getting through airport security. (had to put in something, I re-read my comments and got depressed, I can be such a downer, sorry)

My thoughts exactly
No problem if he doesn’t come over right away. We get another lottery pick for the ’10 draft and we get Rubio to join the pick plus a year older Martin, JT, Hawes, Cisco, and Donte.
That being said, I believe that with a new coach and a summer of work for our young guys we could see a small improvement (even without Rubio) so I wouldn’t be expecting another 17 win season.
