you aren’t doing it right. ;p

smart move...(assuming its true)
If it doesn’t work out, no one to blame but GP… his contract is up next year and the boyz need to truly evaluate whether he deserves to come back. I have enough faith in GP to believe he will earn a new deal… but it would be nice know for sure. If he stumbles and we end up with another bad coaching decision and the draft and summer moves do not improve the team appreciably, maybe it is time for him to move on… wouldn’t mind it if the Maloofs made that decision based on the fact that they gave him complete control of the team.

I've always thought the Maloofs got a bad rap
I think they genuinely care about this team and are impassioned fans themselves.

The Maloof's have their shortcomings, but it could be worse -

I'm glad to see that Maloofs are going to quit meddling so much
I want to see the cool rich playboys that used to cheer the team on from the sidelines with some hot blondes sitting next to them again.

Even more important is Amick's last Twitter post
Joe Maloof on financial situation re: search: “Listen, we’re very strong financially and we’re dedicated to putting a winner on the court.”
Strong financially, eh?

Petrie on 1140 this afternoon
Did anyone catch it? I tuned in just in time for the Peaches recap. According to Napes -
1) The Kings will not draft Rubio if he is not coming over this year.
2) As noted, the Kings are going to hire an NBA veteran head coach.
3) GP likes Ike Diogu…a lot.

We were right last year...
when we both thought Beno was a 3yr/10 million player which I think all of us would be alright with even after this last season. If Diogu asks for anything more than 1 yr 2 mill or a 2 yr 4 million dollar contract then he can go and try to convince another NBA team that he isn’t a Euro league player. I don’t even know if I would go that high maybe a 2yr/3 mill deal with the second being a mutual option and all of this is if the Kings don’t draft Blake Griffin #1.

I pray the Diogu talk is Petrie keeping his options open
I fear that it’s not.

I don't know why he would even bring the guy up.
2 games of glory isn’t exactly going to set the FA market afire. At best I see Diogu getting the 1.7 mill low level exemption if it still exists this off-season. I think the guy is going to jump all over any guaranteed money.

I was about to post that somewhere...
I catched the recap as well and was surprised by the Rubio thing. I understand it though and hope that GP works on some of that during his trip to Europe.
I was also happy about the fact that it seems like the front office is on the same page with the coaching search.
I didn’t catch the Diogu part (even during the recap)

Believe it or not
I rush to the car after work (get out at 5) to catch the 5 best stories… at 5!!!
Now I understand why some people really don’t like Peaches. I don’t mind him as the play-by-play guy, but on the radio…. that’s a different story

is there a link
to hear this? i live in so cal and don’t get anywhere near the amount of kings coverage i need. i can’t believe we’re not getting rubio, though. we NEED a 1 and he’s gonna be great.

Petrie said he wouldn't draft Rubio Only if he isn't coming over this year.
It would be a really tough sell to the fans to pick a guy who isn’t going to play this year and if he doesn’t come over this year then you have to fear that he might not come over the next or ever a la Fran Vasquez. Petrie will do his due diligence and come back from Europe with a plan.

I don't think there is a lot of due diligence to be done here

$500,000 doesn't go real far in this economy.
If GP and Levian don’t think they can get this guy out of his contract then I don’t think they are going to take him. Let’s hope that Ricky already has solid representation and working on getting out of there, or better yet, let’s hope we get the #1 and don’t have to worry about such things.

I've already talked about this ad nauseum
I really don’t want to spend a lot of time talking about it moving forward. But, there isn’t that much due diligence to be done here. There just isn’t. Thats Geoff Petrie talk for: Either he’s willing to come over hell or high water, or he’s not. This buyout is what it is. Rubio’s either going to take it or he’s not, but right now he has nothing to gain by tipping his hand. We won’t here anything about the resolved buyout up until the eve of June 15th. That’s not my prediction; it’s how Dan Fegan works. He’s a hardline guy. No sense in panicking when you have a whole month & half for the other guy to do it. If he reduces it some; hey great. But, I think this is a tactic to see how high teams are willing to take Rubio. That, and I think convincing that Rubio’s European agent won’t be very useful to him. That might be the real back story here. But, that’s just a guess.
I personally preferred my first answer better.

Makes sense. We drafted Bodiroga late in the second round and it was worth the gamble; we need a sure thing drafting 1-4.

Thank Natting God!
It’s finally Petrie’s decision. It only took the Maloofs two and a half coaches to figure it out. Now, if they could please tell Dan Snyder to die, I’d be a happy man.

Kenny Natt may have not been a great coach for what the Kings need
But he wasn’t exactly given a winning situation either. Calling him half of anything isn’t just dis-respectful; it’s stupid.

I'd say his comment was uncalled for
You can criticize Kenny Natt the coach without insinuating that he isn’t a head coach.

Isn't there a better way to say that Natt was not a very good head coach
than sayng he’s half of anything?

Maybe he meant
That Natt only worked part of a season as a head coach, I don’t know. I just found it funny that you got worked up about him being “disrespectful”.

He was more like 3/4 of a head coach
seeing as that’s how much of the season he was our head coach for. So relax.
Plus, what you should really be nailing amonk about is that technically the Maloofs only picked two coaches, Natt was just a byproduct of one’s early departure

the really great thing about the Natt hiring
is that Steve Whizhunt (sp?) wasn’t given a chance to get some NBA coaching experience
