Byron [Scott] always says he eventually wants to coach two teams: the Lakers, where he began his career and won two titles, and the Kings, where he was an assistant under Rick Adelman for two seasons (1998-2000). He and wife, Anita, loved living here, and immersed themselves within the community. Plus, Petrie said he was interested in a few coaches who might be available at some point during or after the postseason. ...
The one-time Laker has several friends and admirers within the organization.

Not sure about a coach whose players tend to quit on him
If we’re looking at coaches that’ll run the Princeton offense it’s obviously between him and Eddie Jordan. Scott’s taken his team pretty deep in the playoffs, while Jordan really hasn’t. Scott also has much better defensive chops, although having a few good defenders like Paul and Chandler probably help. However, Jordan has had a lot of bad luck with injuries that have hurt his teams come playoff time. Plus, facing Lebron every year in the first round is a little tough.
Not sure which of the two I’d take.

Scott just had his ass handed to him...
…not sure how much of that is his fault, or even what it means, really. It’s pretty difficult to lust after a coach who just suffered the worst loss in the playoffs, but I guess at least he made it to the playoffs (unlike Jordan), right? Then again, I think if Jordan had the Hornets roster, he would have been there, too.
I think the Kings should talk to Scott, but I’m not sure where it goes from there.
I’m still in favor of sitting down with Jordan, Mitchell, and Messina first.

Maybe
They weren’t very happy with him overall Vf.

The same could be said of the Hornets this year.
Peja, Paul, West, Chandler, Peterson… they are all injured or banged up. And as far as Chandler quitting on the team ownership set that up not so much Scott, I’m not saying that Scott is not at fault because he is just like everyone else on that team.

It really kind of seems with this team
that the players aren’t totally quitting on him, so much as they are ownership. They are banged up but on top of that, the fact that management traded one of their core pieces to save money, only to have the trade nixed probably doesn’t sit well with everyone.

I mentioned this over on EC Inc too
But, I can see worse options than Byron Scott out there. I really can.

"he eventually wants to coach...the Kings"
Well, I eventually want to work for Geoff Petrie or be a player’s agent, but nobody’s knocking on my door!
Oh, snap! Someone’s knocking on my door! Hang on a sec…

Developing a PG
Although I’m hoping the Kings pull off the #1 pick in the draft and pick up Griffin, it remains likely that we’ll end up with a top tier PG in the draft.
If GP does, in fact, have interest in Scott…..theres no doubt in my mind that he’s taken notice of how well Scott developed CP3 over the past few years…Rubio/Jennings/Evans etc. would all benefit from having a guy like Scott around.
Neither is Ricky Rubio

Ummmm...
By saying that a coach helped to develop a PG doesnt necessarily mean tha the player was a “Project” player!!…..that being said, I watched PLENTY of CP3 in college (Im a huge ACC fan) and his game wasnt nearly as polished as it is now.. I think its safe to say Scott has been pretty influential in getting CP3 to the point where he is right now…
You mean NBA coaches get more out of their talent than NCAA coaches do?
I’m shocked I tell you.

Yeah
That goes without saying….but it appears some people think that guys like CP3 & Rubio aernt “Project” players, so their NBA coaches don’t necessarily develope them…Odd-
People are stupid hoops

Not my point
Totally see how it could come across that way.
I was going to write that under any NBA coach, CP3 would have continued his development. But then I started thinking more about some of the coaches in the NBA…yikes. Point made 916.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Agreed-
and I definently agree that CP3 would have developed that well under pretty much any other NBA Coach…..except Musselman of course..ha
Does anybody else wonder what would have happened
to Rajon Rondo if he had been subjected to Eric Musselman?

I wasn't calling you stupid Ex G
I was pointing out that development doesn’t stop when you’re a stud like Paul. Scott has played a part in that. And if you don’t think so, then you are stupid.

Seems like
Scott is a nice add to the coaching search equation…His last results sure are not very good, but, on the other hand, neither are Jordan’s.
I think I’d prefer Scott or Messina instead of Jordan…Scott’s familiar with the Princeton offense AND not a bad defensive coach…it could be very very worse

Nice Find Ziller
Although Scott has his flaws, I’ve always been a pretty big fan of the way he coaches ball.. The way I see it, youve got 3 types of Coaches in the NBA. … 1) Youve got the Dictator – Micromanagers types (Carlisle / Skiles / Larry Brown)…. 2) Youve got the I’ll give you a bit of freedom – “Dont abuse it” types ( B. Scott / Adelman / Karl)…..3) And then youve got the laid back, “Seen it all before” – We’ll just address it at the next practice types – ( Phil & Pop come to mind)…… (As always, you could probobly break those groups down even further…but I’ll leave it as is for the sake of the argument)
I’m not sure if Scott is the right guy, but I strongly believe the Kings need a coach who fits into category 2.. Were simply too young and inexperienced to have a coach completely micromanage every trip down the court…..In addition, were not nearly talented enough of a team to have a coach give the boys complete freedom..

The scary part is..
..I can make a serious argument on why Stern is more attractive, and I can do so from a heterosexual point of view.

The difference between Stern and Voisin is that
one of them knows a hell of a lot more than the other about hoops and writing a decent sports column.
The other one is Ailene Voisin.

plus,
Stern doesn’t think the Kings should hire Bill Lambier and make the Whiz an assistant and he’s gotten over the fact that Adelman inserted Webber into the line-up after the injury taking Brad’s place at the 4…

Stern never offered himself, body and soul, to Peja Stojakovic.
