Wonder why they have him at #2
Do they realize who the Kings’ GM is? There’s no way Petrie passes on the kid unless there’s some huge weakness in his game that just can’t be improved… and hid “defensive deficiencies” don’t count because Petrie won’t care

I don't know about that
but its all still very uncertain. For instance they have Willie Warren on the list who’s been saying for weeks he’s going back to school.

Typically they don't take into consideration the teams needs when selecting the draft order.
Its best player, then next best player… He may rise or fall depending on who really declares and how tryouts go.

For now ...
After the lottery, they’ll include team needs and reporting. But until then the teams don’t matter so much. (This is based on previous years. DX has projected Sacramento fairly well the last few years, hitting Douby early, nailing Hawes and I believe Singletary.)
This is correct
2009 Mock Draft
Team needs have NOT yet been taken into account in this mock draft.
There’s no point in speculating based on team need when the draft order is ultimately unknown until after the Lottery . . . which is why they do it this way.
Until then this is simply (a) their best guess as to who will be declaring and (b) their own general ranking system.
3 PF's and no PG's
I really don’t imagine too much thought was put into the King’s selections.

Like I said earlier
I imagine they’re ranking prospects not by what team needs them(not yet at least), but by overall talent. That’s the best way I can explain it.

yeah
i was going to post that it had us taking 3 big guys, so we would have 4 PF and a C on our roster….talk about playing big man ball right? And those “PF” are 6 foot 7 and 6 foot 8. Kinda Small PF, i mean if he dominated in college i can see taking him, but we already have enough big men. So Rubio it is! I just hope we don’t get stuck with the 4th pick, because then who the hell do we get?

good question.
And a reality we have to consider. Our most glaring weakness is at PG. Rubio would be gone and Warren – who I’m not crazy about anyway – may well remain at Okl. I say, under these non-optimal circumstances, we grab Eric Maynor. Possibly Evans, but I’m not so sure he’s a true point guard.
I’m just not that excited about guys like Hill, Monroe, Harden and DeRozan given the personnel we already have. I know there’s a school of thought that says you have to pick for talent and not need in the Lottery, but with the mid-lottery muddle in this particular draft, I say get the best PG available.
We get three picks
including the first in the 2nd round and all we take are PFs? So, I guess we are getting our PG via trade or FA????
Frankly, I’m not convinced that we are going to go with BG even if we get the first pick. It’s almost too mainstream a choice for a GP pick.
But, like everybody here, I’m just guessin……

Erm -
Regarding the potential “log jam” up front if we get Griffin -
Did anyone notice that when Hawes got poked in the eye last night, that Ike Diogu got burn? Ike Diogu. And Calvin Booth and Cedric Simmons eached moved up a chair.
Given that JT has not proven that he can play more than 30 minutes without fouling out, I propose that there would be plenty of minutes to go around for Hawes/JT/Griffin, 32 apiece if my math is right. I’m not advocating that we draft Griffin. But the thought that we should pass on him because we are thick up front is a stretch, to say the least.

It's so early in the process and we don't know who is even going to be in it yet that it almost makes no sense to comment on it.
But……………….that’s never stopped me yet.
I thought the Rox pick was projected to be around 28. Do we actually know what pick we are going to get yet or is this a guesstamation? I thought I read that Patty Mills was going back to school but that was maybe speculation. Collison could be a good pickup if he’s still around when we pick but if Mills stays in the lottery I"d love to take a chance on him, he could be the Mario Chalmers of this draft (not similarity in their games but a diamond picked late.)
