2009 StR Community Draft Board: Pick #6
Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings and Tyreke Evans were selected 1-4. Hasheem Thabeet has been taken No. 5.
Reminder: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is draft board, a list with the order of prospects you'd like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we'd take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Petrie or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick's choices. Poll will remain open until 8 AM PDT on Wednesday.

Going Lawson here
For reasons already stated here. I think he has the most upside of any player on the draft, and I believe you have to go with BPA even at the 6th overall pick.
To be honest, I’m just glad I didn’t have to vote for Thabeet!

Same with me
Lawson was my 5th pick so since he’s still on the board, I’m picking him again. Curry does intrigue me, but I like Lawson more.
Yeah Curry is my 6th pick on the board
Jrue Holiday would be my 7th. Then I would have to decide between Jordan Hill and Hasheem Thabeet. I’m not sure who I would pick. Doesn’t really matter now though.

From Chad Ford's Chat
Travis (DC): Kings fan here. The guys at Sactown Royalty are starting to gush about Tyreke Evans. Saying he might be a poor man’s Dwayne Wade, could even end up being the best in the draft class if everything goes right. Other pundits say he’s a Larry Hughes in the making. What’s your take?
SportsNation Chad Ford: I think he’s Jerry Stackhouse. He’s got a great NBA body and can really score as a slasher. But his jump shot is trouble and he’s not the athlete or decision maker that Wade was. Still, in this draft, he’s a Top 7 pick.
Peaches is an idiot.
Ha I saw that
who was saying he was a poor man’s Dwyane Wade?

Voted Curry
but it seems too high. This is where I start scanning the list and really having trouble differentiating. I did second guess myself and really start leaning toward Harden. How did Earl Clark completely slip off the list just when it started to get into his territory?
Lower their expectations and rise to met them
Voted for Curry
Because he’s my bff. Or because I think he’ll be a lethal scorer in the NBA, and can handle the ball well…as well.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Simple: Ty Lawson
He’s the best pure point guard to come out of the draft since Chris Paul in 2005.
Period.
Yes, even better than Derrick Rose – as a PURE point guard with uber talent.
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
Curry
almost time to get Harden, but Curry’s compelling enough to put him off one more slot in my mind.
Harden
Safe pick at this point. Solid but not spectacular.
I think there will be very few surprises from here on in this draft.
There's always a surprise or two
after workouts.
At least to bozos like us.

Or, all surprises.
The only way there will be few or no surprises is that there may be no specific expectations. Otherwise, I have to believe it will be ALL surprises from her on.
Lower their expectations and rise to met them
Harden
Best player available in my estimation. I don’t know how he and Martin play together, but I’m willing to let Eddie Jordan the next coach deal with that in this situation.
I’m beginning to wonder whether Hill will be there at #23 on our board. Is it because he looks like Mikki Moore? The lack of rebounding?
I'm not surprised
to see Jordan Hill fall into the late lottery area. Even this voting brings him in around #10.
Lower their expectations and rise to met them
Hill
The Mikki Moore resemblance absolutely is hurting him. Hill could do himself a lot of good by kidnapping Moore, taking his place on the Celtics bench, and getting some minutes in the playoffs. Then when people get all excited about Mikki Moore, Hill’s draft stock will turn around.
This would also be a great plot for the long-awaited “Celtics Pride 2.”

I took Harden
I can’t bring myself to taking Curry over Harden. Harden may not have played well in the NCAA tourney, but he did play in the NCAA tourney. I’m not holding Davidson’s lack of appearance against Curry, but I would have thought Harden to be the better pro prospect prior to the tourney, and Harden’s performance, though uninspiring, was not enough to drop him any lower on my list.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
Seriously?
Why is the vote so high for Curry? He has shown he can’t play point, but it seems to me half the people in SactownRoyalty want a point guard.(the split decision on Rubio/Griffin). So you wouldn’t want Lawson? A PROVEN point guard with a VERY HIGH assist-turnover ration? Curry can shoot, yes, but so could Reddick.
Can play point?
He played PG this last season at Davidson and did well.

I'm pretty sure Bucksforever is a Kings fan
As weird as a name as that is on a Kings board. But, then again, who the hell am I to talk about having a weird name?

The Ohio State.
That’s why it’s Bucks. I didn’t even think of Milwaukee, sorry. Anyway, his turnovers were WAY too high for a college point guard. When he played good defenses he turned it over way too much.

Harden is a hard one but at 6...
If the other choices have already been taken – GRubion at #1 and #2, Curry, Evans and Jrue (I can’t wait for the Mock comments on Thabeet – I hope there is a “who do you see as this years’ biggest draft dropper?”)
Lots of good comments on DeDe as well. I voted for Ty Lawson. That leaves one more Ty who the Kings might grab at 23 or 31.
Workouts Workouts Workouts. Six days and counting until it is either Mince or Mardi Gras for the Kings
if we keep #23
I’m betting Budinger at the moment
