Jordan didn’t get off the private plane and run immediately to Kinkos to fax his signed contract. BTW, Stan will probably be available again after this week.

If Jordan goes to the Sixers and the Kings aren’t interested in Westphal than this coaching search gets real interesting.

SVG did a great job coaching the magic this year, its not his fault that Howard

can’t hit free throws and really has no low post moves or any semblance of a shot. Looking at how that team performed down the stretch you would be hard pressed to find a better coach.

As far as the Kings coaching search, maybe Petrie will talk to Ettore Messina on his visit to Europe, he is by far the most intriguing coaching candidate as he has an immense knowledge of basketball. If we end up without the top pick he could even end up with a euro PG Rubio/Jennings.

If he played over 3 years

I would say yeah. But, since he hasn’t, I would answer no. He has improved over there in some ways, and has learned some valuable lessons about being a “professional”. For a career AAU kid like Jennings that type of growth is very valuable to scouts who were looking for that very thing.

The point I’m making is that Brandon Jennings did more to help himself by struggling and working as hard as he could to improve. That impresses a lot of GM’s in the NBA more than some fans realize.

The reason we are interviewing multiple candidates

and not rushing into a bidding war is to avoid a SVG situation. This is not going to come down to who offers the most money or who makes the first offer. If EJ is offered the job at a competitive salary, I think he takes it. It’s close to home and it’s a more talented team. The role we would play is leverage. We don’t need that crap again. EJ is not the only talented coach out there.

Man, after checking out some of the posts on Liberty Ballers,

EJ sounds like he definitely wants to be in Philly. Now the only question left is if Philly wants EJ.

I know we’ve taken chances these last few years but Messina at least deserves an interview imo. Add JVG to that list as well.

It’s feels like it’s gonna be another long summer, and we haven’t even confirmed our #4 pick yet.

With the fourth pick of the draft the kings select...

I think no offer was made...

because Eddie Jordan communicated to Petrie that he is interested in the Philly job and to avoid getting egg all over his face like the SVG situation, Petrie might want to hold off on making a formal offer. The last thing the Kings need is for this job to become less desirable because option #1 turned them down.

Man..

That’s some glass half empty shit right there.

Maybe Petrie didn’t want to overplay his hand. Considering the financial limitations of the Kings I think it makes more sense to react to other offers than set the bar. In negotiations it’s always preferable to be the most recent offer.

I think the fact that Jordan is owed so much from Wahington makes the money a little less of a factor.

Jordan is going to get paid whether he coaches or not. He needs to find the right spot for he and his family.

The San Francisco 49ers are the boob of the NFL because they offered their offensive coordinator job to like 36 different people before a 90 year old guy finally took the job. I think it is very possible that Petrie asked the question that if all things were equal and the money was similar and he was offered both jobs, which would he choose. And giving an honest- we have worked together before and I respect you answer- and that answer was Philly….but if I don’t get a job offer this weekend can you keep me in mind next week?

Mmmm boobs...

Wha…? Huh? Oh yah…

Anyways, I highly doubt that the 9ers misfortune bodes poorly for the Kings. The conversation you mention as possible seems completely unlikely to me. Petrie and EJ aren’t THAT familiar.

A perception they aren't dying to disprove

Which is partly the problem. But, rebuilding isn’t always about the money you spend.

The quote in the article

That the title of this post is based on

A source close to the 54-year-old coach has indicated that between the two gigs, Jordan would prefer the Sixers because of their immediate ability to compete, as well as their proximity to his home. He grew up in Washington, D.C., and played basketball for Rutgers University.

Is no secret. But as discussed before Sac also offers positives that would make it a preferential destination. I.e. Connections to Princeton offense, young talent, less pressure, high draft pick etc. This doesn’t really blow my hair back.

I agree

both teams present Pro’s and Con’s this is why they have an interview process. So the right canidate gets matched up with the right team. If EJ goes to Philly, I wish him well, maybe he can get more out of Brand than Cheeks could, and MAYBE if Miller resigns they can push back the clock on more time, and MAYBE they get Dalembert to play well, and MAYBE they solve the outside shooting/floor spacing problems.

At least with the Kings you know you are walking into a rebuild situation. In philly most of the Payroll and flexibility is tied up in Brand, Iggy, and Dalembert. Not exactly a recipe for Championships.

Just saying, we see things through whatever glass we want to.

Huh

He would rather coach a playoff contending team with the likes of Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Brand and Louis Williams?

We really need to build a team first.

I'm a skeptic

But it sounds like EJ is using the media to get any offer made by the Kings to be more lucrative.

Ok, people, let's generate all the good Karma we can until May 19. Then you can go back to your shallow and empty lifestyles.

But Musselman is still getting paid by the Kings until he gets another job.

If EJ wants to go to Philly let him

I don’t want to hire a coach who doesn’t want the job completely.
