Chad Ford Chat

“Noah (Los Angeles, CA): For the sake of the best possible basketball, what teams would you want to land Rubio and Griffin in the lottery today?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (4:12 PM ET ) I think Griffin’s folks would tell you that the Knicks are the top spot for him. So would Rubio’s. Everyone wants to play in New York, especially when Mike D’Antoni is there.

Best fit for Griffin? He’d be good on the Wizards and would be a perfect fit for the Pacers.

Best fit for Rubio? Sacramento and Golden State. "

I wonder if they are feeling as sick to their stomachs as I am? I think that may be the difference between real fans and bandwagon fans is that the real fans feel it in their stomachs. I wanna know and I don’t wanna know. If the dubs get the first or second pick I’m going to have to decide between going postal and throwing up

Griffin's thoughts on Sacramento

“Winning is definitely a priority for me,” Griffin explained. "It really just depends who is where. There could be a really good team at No. 2 or there could be a really good team at No. 1 and it just kind of depends on where it falls and it’s all about having a good fit and trying to fit into the system, wherever that system may be. "

Moving on to the topic of the specific destinations the ping-pong balls could lead him to tomorrow, Griffin was understandably cautious when asked about his thoughts on the prospects of playing for Sacramento, the team with the worst record in the NBA.

“Obviously they had a down year,” Griffin said of the Kings. “They have players. They have players that are good. It’s all about me fitting into the system and help make the team better.”

Predicting the future

If we get the #1, this site spends a month arguing Rubio v. Griffin. Friendships are shattered, bannings are commonplace and we stop using “Natt” or “Theus” in place of actual profanity.

If we get the #2, peace and harmony reigns, as everyone accepts that we will end up with the Rubio/Griffin leftovers. Until Petrie decides to pick Stephen Curry with the #2, and we all start the “Stages of a Geoff Petrie Draft Pick” 5-step program.

If we get the #3, lietothegirls purchases all available SBN advertising space to run Hasheem Thabeet youtube videos. He and pookey’s relationship regresses a few months.

If we get the #4, we just sit here and sob like a high school girl whose prom date just stood her up at the last minute.

Guys, don’t get your hopes completely wrapped up in the lottery and getting the first pick.

I’m a Blazer fan, and we sucked for a long time. We had the best odds to win the 2006 lottery, but ended up in the doomsday scenario of picking fourth. Ugh. Everyone cried, but we ended up with Roy and Aldridge.

Point is, I’m rooting for you guys to win the lottery. Sacramento deserves it. But don’t let it get you too down if you get third or fourth.

I don’t want to get too far into the specifics, but Minnesota drafted Roy with the intention of trading him to Houston. They didn’t want him, the Rockets did. The Blazers just stepped in and took the guy that they knew Minny wanted in Foye…

the worst move was Ainge trading the seventh pick for Telfair…

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Kornheiser was pulling for us on PTI.

Not specifically for us but for the stability of the league and the fact that the bad teams need the opportunity to improve. Wilbon was pulling for the Wiz since he’s a DC native, but all in all I was surprised that there was no anti-sac slant.

Lonely
is the night when you find yourself alone
Your demons come to light and your mind is not your own
Lonely is the night when theres no one left to call
You feel the time is right—(say) the writins on the wall

Its a high time to fight when the walls are closin in
Call it what you like—its time you got to win
Lonely, lonely, lonely—your spirits sinkin down
You find youre not the only stranger in this town

Red lights, green lights, stop n go jive
Headlines, deadlines jammin your mind
You been stealin shots from the side

I’m scared, i know we have the best chances to get the number 1 pick, but i keep hearing how Washington, and NY will land Blake Griffin, I want Rubio, but now i’m starting to fall for Blake Griffin!!! Damnit!!! Any way we get a high pick and trade it? Knowing the Kings luck, someone would trade the number 1 to the Lakers for sasha vuchich (i.e see Pau, Trever) because they are going to lose to the Nuggets…..Stern would jizz his paints….
