2009 StR Community Draft Board: Pick #12

Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, James Harden, Jrue Holiday, Demar DeRozan and Jonny Flynn are off the board in the first 11 positions on our board.

Reminder: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is draft board, a list with the order of prospects you'd like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we'd take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Petrie or anyone else would choose in a slot.

Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick's choices. Poll will remain open until 8 AM PDT on Friday.

Teague.

I don’t believe in Hill, so I went with the best available PG. Terrence Williams was also a consideration, thanks to the recent fan post, but I haven’t seen him play enough to take him over the best available PG.

Voted for Teague

But Hill at #12? Is this a deeper draft than people are giving credit?

Jordan Hill

I blame Chad Ford and his Flynn article for Flynn jumping on our board.

I liked Flynn after that game in the tourney, and before the Ford article.

He seems like a Marbury (before he went crazy) or Bibby type of PG to me. Someone who can fill up the stat sheet with points, and get 5-7 assists and a steal or two a game.

And he lead ’Cuse to the tourney this year and made Donte look good last year.

You were also the only one to back up your Flynn vote yesterday

so I respect you for that.

I voted Flynn yesterday but it was a toss up for Flynn

and Hill… i lobbied for Budinger who is now my vote.

I like

Both of the Boys from Arizona at this point. But I went with Budinger.

I like Hill the more I read about him.

Worst case for him IMO is Moore with better rebounding numbers. Best case is poor man’s Bosh (without the 3pt range).

or maybe

my comparisons are based on dreads… hmmm perhaps he could be the next Brian Grant!

Teague

Most verstile player on the board and he fills a need on the Kings. He can play point and shooting guard and can play either a half court offense or run and gun.

On the next board, how about adding (in order of preference) Nick Calathes, B.J. Mullens, Darren Collison, Sam Young, Patrick Mills, Austin Daye, Tyler Hansbrough and James Johnson

Your list

probably needs to come in after the lottery selections. Mullens could be a lottery stretch. Everyone else is mid-teens to late twenty’s. And Calathes is going to Europe to play pro ball. Too bad. I liked him at #31.

I can't make up my mind

I’ve voted like this the last 3 times: Blair, Hill, and now Blair again. I just can’t get out of my mind that they will be very similar players.

Blair is a Stud

In a bar fight for sure. I think he may surprise in the NBA too if he can play the 4. I don’t have high hopes though.

jordan hill will be a monster in the NBA...

give him a few years… his development over the past couple of years is just a small glance of what he will develop into the future… he started playing basketball his junior year in high school!!

by FearRomo on May 28, 2009 1:32 PM PDT reply actions

It's hard to project

anyone to become a monster in the NBA who wasn’t at his previous level. I expect him to become a nice complementary player, but no more.

Can you think of anyone who didn’t show much in high school or college that became a really great NBA player? Maybe I’m in left field here. MIchael Jordan might fit that description. I just can’t see it.

By Romo, you must mean Romanowski?

Voted for Hill yesterday, then felt all day like I should have picked Blair instead

The IMG guys who chat (Thorpe,Moreau and Macri) love his game and heart and have been raving about him since he trained with them in Florida. I think when it’s all said and done that Blair will have one of the most solid careers in the NBA from this draft class.
