2009 StR Community Draft Board: Pick #13
(Note: Whoops, sent this live early. I don't we'll have a stunning comeback at No. 12, though.)
Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, James Harden, Jrue Holiday, Demar DeRozan, Jonny Flynn and Jordan Hill are off the board in the first 12 positions on our board.
Reminder: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is draft board, a list with the order of prospects you'd like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we'd take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Petrie or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick's choices. Poll will remain open until 8 AM PDT on Saturday.

Earl Clark
I pick up a little Gerald Wallace vibe from him athletically.
TZ, could we also add Gerald Henderson to the list?
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
I'm going with the other Louisville standout.
I feel like Terrence Williams at #13 would be great for us, as outlined by our resident drunk Keon Clark.
There now I've met the 75 word count. -pookeyguru

Don’t you know Baltimore natives have a Duke bias? Shame on you 214!

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Because 6 people voted for him

I'm sticking with
Chase, i know his upside is not HUGE. But you know what you are going to get with him. A decent rotation player who can come in and help out from day one, and will probably give you a couple years as a starter as well (if need be).
Basically a more-athletic-poor-mans Brent Barry.
He does get my vote for now.
I do like Patty Mills as well, and think with a few years in the right system he could be Tony Parker (with better range).

I didn't vote at all
But I think Budinger is a solid choice here. I think he’s a rich man’s Brent Barry. He’s a very good shooter, extremely explosive athlete, team player, has good experience. I’d say he’s like Cisco, but he can jump out of the gym and has a high basketball IQ.
Does not play D
the way that Cisco does. And the complaint i have heard is that he does not use his athletic ability to get to the rim much settling for the outside shot, AND he is not aggressive defensively.

But I do
really like Budinger and think that if he is on the board at 23 Petrie will take him, which is what I am hoping.

Agree about his D
That’s one of the reasons I think he’d be a good fit.
Seriously though it may be a cliche, but it’s easier to motivate a talented athlete than it is to improve a motivated player’s mediocre athleticism. I love what Francisco does for us, but most teams (including the Kings) need pure talent more than pluck.
Budinger has been sliding
not because of his talent, which is definitely there, but his intensity level. People are worried about his lack of intensity on both ends of the court because he has the ability to be a crazy good offensive player when he tries. He’s athletic enough to get to the hoop when he wants and he has a very nice jump shot.

Voted Clark
From what I’ve heard, he has the most upside of anyone left on t he board. He is also very handsome, which has become a huge factor for me in assessing basketball talent and potential. I know we have a few mediocre small forwards now, kinda like a mircohydra, but you know what you have to do with those hydra heads. Can he be like our Jeff Green? Prolly more like Julian Wright.
EeeeeCeeee!!!
If we were going for sexy heartthrob potential
I go with Ricky. Cuz, all the Spanish chicks he could have being a multi millionaire. Uhm, nevermind. He probably ALREADY has them.
Why couldn’t I have been born in Spain? Sigh.
