Didn't want to link it
So thanks. (I try to be self serving as little as possible as scary as that is.)
But, yeah that’s my main premise. It’s a pretty important point when you think about it. I don’t know if Rambis would do it, but it can’t hurt to ASK right?

I am disappointed but not terribly
interesting reading the comments under the post from the Philly Fans. They do not seem to be as enamored of Eddie Jordan as Sacramento Fans.
So, the next question is: who is the leading candidate now? and what happened to Bzdelik and Buchenholzer?

I make fun of you. You torta Jerzey turd.

I'm the guy that made pookey change his mind on something: "IW, there, I finally admitted it. You stinkin Islander punk. I’m going to get you for making me admit this you voodoo child Jerzey punk torta." I don't know what a torta is, I thought it was a sandwich. I like sandwiches. Victory is tasty.

And the $.02
Eh. If this was Petrie’s guy, then I’m disappointed. If he wasn’t, then whatever.
COACH THIB!
Donte? Donte'! Donté?!?!
'spect da 'xtra E'
Since EJ's out,
Might as well take a chance on a T Thib, or Messina, etc…
Better than hiring Westphal IMO.
With the fourth pick of the draft the kings select...
The only reason that I don't like this news
Is it means that Westphal is the only guy we’ve currently interviewed. (and yes I know Thib and Rambis are scheduled)

I feel the same about Westphal as I did about EJ
I’d be ok if GP goes with him, but he wouldn’t be my 1st choice. I’m leaning more towards Messina, Thib, Rambis, in that order. And if we could get interviews with one of the BB boys, Bzdelik and Buchenholzer, that would be ok too.

Budenholzer and Messina definitely need to get interviews
Picking coaches has not been Geoff’s strong point, and I know that the past few coaching searches have been “influenced” by the Maloof’s, but Petrie still made the final selection. It hasn’t been pretty so far. So I wouldn’t be happy with Westphal.

Give Messina a call
What have we really got to lose at this point? Messina’s best quality is that he’s a teacher that can develop young talent. And what do we have a lot of? Young talent in need of development. Plus he’s a winner. He’s a winner in a different league, but he still knows basketball and knows how to get shit done.

I'm getting the feeling Wesphal is the guy
Unless Thib and Rambis have a great interview. Let’s hope neither are reading Musselman’s blog isolating interview keywords that make the Maloofs swoon.
Barring a truckload of cash
I don’t see whats attractive about the Philly job. Unless they can swing a massive trade, or strike gold with a later draft pick, first round and done is as good as that team gets. Lot of terrible contracts.
Petrie said he wanted a coach with some success at the NBA head coach level. Among the coaches that he’s interviewed/planned to interview, that now leaves us….Westphal. Not the most exciting choice.
I’ll also be bummed if Petrie sets that noble requirement and then goes out and hires another guy who has very little or no NBA head coach experience. The team needs some kind of stability there and can’t risk hiring another Theus/Musselman.
I’m really bummed. I think he needs to expand this search and do it quick if he wants a proven coach by the draft.
But Messina would make me unbummed. Even though he has no NBA experience, at the very least he’d be extremely interesting to watch. An interesting experiment to see if he can bring a European style of basketball and succeed with it in the NBA. And he is a sure as hell proven coach in the European League. For some reason I get the impression Petrie has already dismissed him, though. I haven’t read an ounce of interest from him.
Depending on how you define
… success at the NBA head coaching level – Rambis could meet that requirement. Winning record and consistently made the second round.
It doesn't sound like Sixers fans
are too excited about Stefanaski’s choice. Did you read their fan blogs? They’re hysterical.
Maybe Sixers fans new something we didn’t.

I think the reason Jordan was attractive to Sacramento fans at all was his preexisting relationship with Petrie and the Princeton and his potential hiring’s solidifying moving the team away from the era of Maloof meddling. From the standpoint of any other franchise he’s not exactly like landing Stan Van Gundy. Jordan’s a coach with above average success in an average conference and an underwhelming record in the playoffs. He’s essentially the guy Philadelphia fired in December. If nothing else I’m glad the powers that be didn’t aggressively woo him only to get ditched at the J Street Kinko’s. An indignity I could suffer from Van Gundy retrospectively (he’s a game away from the finals) but not from Jordan.
This could be very good for the Kings. By no means was Jordan settling, and I think for a variety of reasons he made the most sense here. On the other hand his potential presence seemed more an underwhelming inevitability than an inspiring one. However, given that two of the other three remaining interviewees are Kurt Rambis and Paul Westphal this could also be very bad for the Kings. It will be interesting to see just how wedded Petrie is to the head coaching experience requirement.
In any case has anyone ever considered Bill Laimbeer for an NBA coaching job?

I was actually very dissapointed when I heard this
EJ wasn’t really my guy (I hadn’t made a choice) but he was my number 1 by default. I can’t take a project anymore and to me he was the closest thing to a sure thing. A guy who would improve this team and could lead them in a couple years back to the playoffs. That’ all I would have asked…
I think I was even more dissapointed that now GP doesn’t really get to make the choice. One of his options has been taken away and in the end it may have been the on he truly wanted. I will support whoever is picked as our new coach but I can’t lie and said this didn’t hurt.
Give me a Goddamn Interview!

I'm OK with this...
I liked the idea of EJ coaching Rubio as he can coach a run-o with the best of em’… However, I’ve always wanted Avery Johnson who doesn’t even seem to be an option. The Maloofs are being laughably cheap about the next coach. So I’m playing the “I don’t care” card. If GP is REALLY making the choice and it isn’t just more BS from the Maloofs, I think I’ll be cool with the guy he chooses.
I know it sounds bad… But I’m just over it. We’ve been looking for a coach for too long as I don’t count any of the garbage they have brought through here after the firing of Adleman…….EPIC FAIL
Just get it done GP so we can move on…
