It is the end of the 2010 season, two games left in the seaon: Spencer is injured and can’t play and JT gets a bum ankle and foul trouble early on so in an act of seeming desperation, and with the Kings Head Coach on emergency family leave, the acting Head Coach, who is otherwise the lead Assistant Coach, decides to start Kenny Thomas.

K9 responds with a 32 point, 11 rebound performance. Mired in coach and fan disbelief, K9 gets the nod and is placed as a frontcourt starter for the final game of the season. For the finale of his long term contract, Thomas follows up with a 28/13.

After much discussion, the Kings GM re-signs Kenny Thomas to a FA deal for MLE after much pleading and badgering by ownership
