Is anyone rooting for the Lakers (over the Rockets)?

This is my first fanpost...sorry I haven't done it sooner, but I am lazy you all are much more Kings knowledgable than I.  But anyway, on to the post...

Technically, it'd be better for us if the Lakers won this series, as we'd have a higher draft pick with the Rockets pick this year.  However, my utter hatred for all things Lakers leads me to root fanatically for Ron and the Rockets.  I even donned my #93 Sacramento jersey today in support.  Just curious if anyone can shake their Laker hatred to root for a higher draft pick..

On a side note.. Has anyone ever played w/ the Lakers in a video game.  I've been playing NBA Lives and Nba 2ks for a long time, and I have never once played with Kobe or the Lakers.  NEVER!

does not. How they do in the post-season has nothing to do with where their draft pick is.

Ok, people, let's generate all the good Karma we can until May 19. Then you can go back to your shallow and empty lifestyles.

I've

been playing since NBA Live 2001, and I, too, can honestly say that I’ve never played as the Lakers. I’ve played with the Heat and Shaq (for D-Wade), but almost always sub him out before the game even starts unless I forget. I’ve always been a Lakers hater and always will be a lakers hater.

Living in Southern California sucks, having to deal with those lame ass lakers flags every bandwagon fan and their mom has on their cars.

P.S. Anybody see that BS of Ron getting ejected for complaining to the official that Kobe elbowed him, and then nothing happens to Kobe just because he put his arms up and walked away?!?!! I can’t wait until Houston is back on their home court and destroy them. I almost hope he gets suspended because that’s what he deserves for being a smug little bitch but I don’t want him to because I don’t wanna hear any bitching from Lakers fans after Houston steals their title dreams from them this year.

Some of those lame ass flags appear in Sacramento. While i’m not a Laker hater, I hate those flags and the people who drive with them. That’s beyond lame.

I too live in Irvine, and SoCal is a tough place to be. OC is especially bad because everyone is so quick to jump on a bandwagon. Stick it out, once the Lakers slip in a few years you won’t see any more Natting flags.

Catch-22

I would have to root for the higher draft pick. That off-sets two powerful impulses. I desperately want to root against the Lakers. And I very much want to root for Rick Adelman.

However, don’t the Rockets have to be in the Finals for their draft position to change? I think we’re safe as long as they aren’t one of the final two.

The 23 draft slot is set

The Rockets could win it all, and the Kings will have the the #23 pick.

Example, the Pistons selected 29 last year, the Lakers 28. Houston did not make it out of the first round and picked 25.

Nice to know

It’s ok lodisacfan. I would have questioned the same thing and my fellow Sac fans would have picked me up also. And I did play with the Lakers ONCE. I was assigned to them on NBA 2k9 in the team game you can play online, BUT I did get Kobe which is nice. All of you may hate me for this, but when Kobe isn’t playing us, I respect everything he does and he is very enjoyable to watch. He’s a competitor and if he came to us I would not complain.

I'm using this thread to vent

Kobe Bryant is a little nating bitch. He better get suspended for that elbow because 90% of the league would. Ron was going to eat him alive….

by eduardo_m7 on May 6, 2009 10:13 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't like Kobe

but I totally disagree with that. They just got tangled up. There is no way he gets suspended and no way he should.

looking at the replay

kobe elbowed Ron twice; once at the box out; the other to the throat

by dun on May 6, 2009 10:25 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

intention

and it wasn’t there. I guarantee you he won’t be suspended.

by Kfan in Korea on May 6, 2009 10:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ohh I don't doubt that

Just because it’s Kobe though. If it was someone like Carl Landry, he’s out.

Just saw the replay again and now doubt he had the intention of elbowing Ron. We can agree to disagree because it’s a stupid argument but I think he should be suspended…

by eduardo_m7 on May 6, 2009 10:30 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

it's not intention

it’s any elbow

A player, coach or trainer may be ejected for:
(1) An elbow foul which makes contact shoulder level or below

hence kobe didn’t kicked out; so to be fair; suspension for life because basketball would be such a better game without people like kobe

by dun on May 6, 2009 10:35 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

They were tangled up

and you are allowed to use your arms to clear space to go for a rebound. He wasn’t trying to hit him with his elbow, and just because his elbow came in contact with his neck doesn’t mean he threw an elbow.

I doubt they’ll even mention it again, but if they do review it they won’t make anything of it, and not because it’s Kobe, but because there was nothing there. That’s what I saw, live, and each time there was a replay.

Others may see it differently, but that’s what I saw.

I dunno

That elbow looked purposeful to me. But it’s not clear enough to warrant a suspension.

Fisher, on the other hand, should be sitting out game 3.

Pretty much..

Ron had complained to the officials multiple times earlier in the game that he was getting elbowed by Kobe, to no avail. What’s a man supposed to do when he’s getting elbowed all game and the ref’s just turn their nose? Take matters into your own hands and let him know that you’re not gonna take that anymore. Just because Kobe is worth big $$$ to the league, nothing is going to happen to him, but Artest can get ejected for getting in his face for being disrespected?? That’s some old bull shit. Sometimes I wonder why I watch this game..

by UCIrvine kings fan on May 8, 2009 12:55 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

on the first elbow; he wasn't clearing space

ron was crashing the board, and he elbowed him as ron was about to get into contact with kobe. the elbow the throat was unneccesary; he had position and clear he swung the elbow up. when do you swung up (as in uppercut) on a clear out; it’s usually a horizontal swing with a little rise; but that was an uppercut

by dun on May 6, 2009 11:01 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

C'mon this is the Lakers

If anything the NBA will figure out a way to suspend Luis Scola or automatically make the rockets forfeit.

Kobe v Lebron-its already hyped

Kings fans: Bringing back any memories of the Spurs v Kings series in 2005? Artest and Bonzi? We would have had the series minus that bs suspension.

Damn

I posted my take on the Kobe elbow on the other thread before I read this stuff. I think Kobe and Fisher had a plan and implemented it to perfection. I think he meant to do it and was smart enough to do it away from the ball, so there weren’t as many good camera angles.

I don't have a dog in the fight

and the “Showtime” Lakers were one of my favorite teams ever but Showtime has been over for a long time.

I don’t like Kobe but I will acknowledge his skills. I don’t like Phil since he dissed us. Derek Fisher is a dirty player and I think Pau may be a Martian. I don’t like anything about the 2000 and beyond Lakers.

I’ve never played a basketball video game.

I do like Rick Adelman and Ron Artest and hated to see both of them go although I knew Ron had to go. The Rockets have always been one of my favorite teams and are my King’s surrogate for the playoffs. I’ve always liked Denver and love what Chauncey has done for them this season. Never been a big Mavs fan. Orlando is dead to me since they showed us up in January and laughed about it on the bench.

Atlanta, have never had that much interest in them and I’m not a Bibby fan, he had to go too. I always root for the team with the oldest players (you will understand one day) and would love to see Boston repeat but don’t think they will because of all the injuries. I want to and expect to see the Cavs beat the Lakers for the big prize because LBJ is the once in a generation Jordonish player that needs to win a championship in Cleveland because I want to see him stay there.

I was in the same boat

Couldn’t stand the hype surrounding the Celtics last year. I think Kobe is a sociopath and I will never be a fan of his (though I understand how amazing he is). There are 28 teams that I would’ve rather seen beat the Celtics last year, but I was still rooting for the Lakers to knock Boston off their high horse.

I root for Ron Artest

The same way I root for Hedo, and rooted for Brad and John. I like the guy, he’s crazy – but he always has good intentions.

Would I want him on my team? No, last night is a perfect example of why not. But doesn’t stop me from hoping he makes every shot he takes, gets every stop he sets his mind to and win every game he can.

Positive vibing.

Kobe is assessed a flagrant1 (a fine) for a foul that was called on Ron instead of him. The league office apparently dissagreed with the call
