Trade the 4th over all pick?
The Kings trade the fourth pick to the Mavs for J. Howard......I'd do this in a heart beat!!! I was looking on espn.com and i saw this
- Rumors: Mavs will deal J. Howard for pick 5

- Now Because i am not an "espn insider" but, i'm guessing if they want the 5th they would want the 4th even more!!! I think J. Howard is worth our 4th pick. Esp. with such a lame draft and we may still be able to pick up our PG of the Future with one of our other picks, or package them with Noc, and move up. If there is a strong indication that we have a good chance to get Rubio than don't trade it, but with K$, Howard, and JT that's a strong, 2,3,4. I think we should do it!!! What do you guys think?

Howard makes $11 million this year,
with a team option for $12 million the following year. The #4 pick will earn less than $8 million total over the same two year period. That, among other things, is what I do not like about this trade.

Wow, I didn't realize he was that old
that make the deal even worse than I thought.
Well, maybe if...
the Kings sent Kenny Thomas and the #4 to Dallas for Josh Howard, the #22, and Dallas’ first round pick for next season.
Kings add a year of salary by moving KT’s contract for Howard’s, but Howard is a productive player. They’d have back-to-back picks at 22 and 23 that they can use or package to move up if a player they want (Evans, Flynn, etc) is available. They take on some salary, but get a proven swingman who can score and rebound to add to their rebuilding effort. Throw in the future first rounder that would likely be in the 20’s to make the deal palatable.
Dallas finally unloads Howard, drafts the player they want at #4, and obtains an expiring contract of KT. The first rounder for next year won’t be a high pick.
Not saying it’s ideal or likely, but definitely worth considering, especially if the Kings aren’t in LOVE witha player at #4.
NOOOO
howard is over rated… even if rubio isnt there we can still get a quality player at 4
a resounding NO...
Howard just isn’t that good. Sure he gets his when everyone else is focusing on the 7ft German, but would he get the same space in Sacramento? No. I don’t like clogging Up the rotation at 2/3 either. Those are Donte and Cisco’s minutes!
I like Howard
and he’d be a big improvement at the 3, but he’s a little too old and a little too injury prone for me to imagine him being a valuable piece of the rebuilding effort. I’d rather see Petrie take a chance on someone younger who’s still developing if they want to trade for a non-rookie.
Naaaahh
Howard is a good/Ok player, hes just not the type of player the kings need. He has character issues for one and he also isnt a go to scorer,he gets his points in the first quarter. Ive rarely ever seen him finish a game off strong. We kind of have Kevin Martin for that, and hes 29.
No
there were rumors of Howard for Artest and even then I said no.

Howard
Dwight – great rebounder and shot blocker
Ron – great director
Johnson – great pistachio ice cream
Josh – great disappointment after signing big contract. A headache the Kings don’t need.

This should be flagged and Rec'd at the same time...

Keep 4th pick
Use the 4th pick on DeRozan and sign either Felton or Sessions
KINGS WILL BE 09-10 CHAMPIONS
I'll trade the 4th pick
and Kevin Martin and K9 for Chris Paul and salaries to match. I will absolutely accept that. New Orleans would never do it, but I would.
LOL
Nelson would have to put a gun to Petrie’s head to pull off this deal…
This is a trade that only a Voisin could love…
