2009 StR Community Draft Board: Pick #24

Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, James Harden, Jrue Holiday, Demar DeRozan, Jonny Flynn, Jordan Hill, Jeff Teague, DeJuan Blair, Earl Clark, Eric Maynor, Terrence Williams, B.J. Mullens, Tyler Hansbrough James Johnson, Patrick Mills, Omri Casspi and Sam Young are off the board in the first 23 positions on our board.

Reminder: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is draft board, a list with the order of prospects you'd like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we'd take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Petrie or anyone else would choose in a slot.

Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick's choices. Poll will remain open until 8 AM PDT on Monday.

I went Henderson

I think the talent level at this point in the draft is too high to pass him up.

I'd take Heytvelt before Brown

But that might be because of my allergy to undersized power forwards.

by nbrans on Jun 14, 2009 12:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Who cares?

A good undersized PF is better than none at all. Do you have an allergy to Paul Millsap too?

I think Millsap is overrated, yes

Even the best underized PFs are almost always bad defenders. Millsap is the best of the bunch but unless they’re paired next to defensive monsters you’re left with a weak defending front line.

by nbrans on Jun 14, 2009 12:54 PM PDT up reply actions

I wouldn't

classify Boozer and Okur as defensive monsters, but I do understand your point. I still think a player like Brown could be helpful but I highly doubt GP finding him the BPA at No. 23. I’d be happy with him at No. 31 though…

Another point on Millsap, he isn’t overrated as a rebounder and his offensive game has improved dramatically because a) he’s playing with arguably the league’s best PG and b) he’s worked very hard at improving his jump shot…

Yeah.

I wasn’t trying to say that Boozer and Okur are defensive monsters. They’re decent, but monsters, no.

I just don’t think Millsap is viable as a long term starter because he’s limited defensively. But Millsap is definitely good for all the reasons you point out, and he’s particularly valuable coming off the bench. Someone’s going to make him a starter though.

Budinger

I am assuming he is still “available” because folks don’t perceive a need for help at his position. Rest assured, though, if he’s available at 23, he’ll be wearing a Kings uniform.

I went with Lawal

not knowing that he’d pulled out of the draft. My next option is Henderson…

I’m expecting a do over because of the news today.

If it was up to me

I’d do Calathes or Beaubois.

Ya I'm on the Beaubois train now.

Nobody else on the list really excites me. Calathes would have been ahead of Beaubois for me before his decision to go to Greece, but I don’t think we can afford to wait a year on anyone. I think the Lakers draft Calathes with their pick, or Collison. Point guard is their weakest position, and if Fisher doesn’t retire this season, having Calathes spend a year in Greece would not be a bad proposition for them.

O ya, and Natt the Lakers.

Yeah

They might take Beaubois for the same reason though. I don’t think they’d have a problem taking a combo G.

meh

Danny is not the exciting choice. Just a 3-pt wizard and big game clutch shooter that can rebound and defend. Not what the Kings need I guess.
