Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

"The Spanish point guard who arrived Tuesday afternoon has become sick today, meaning an afternoon hoops session at the Kings practice facility is not expected to take place. Rubio, who is here only to gauge the Kings' interest in him at the No. 4 spot in the June 25 draft, may attempt to give it a go tomorrow morning. Or, of course, he may not."

As someone who travels for a living, a little advice

always bring a light jacket on the plane – even in summer.
Those long flights get cold and dry.

Damn! i was really hoping he ran some drills for us, hopefully he feels better tomorrow, and sucks that sh*t up!! Petrie should of took him to La Favorita!

Just heard Amick touch on this on Sportsline

He said that people who went to dinner with him knew he had a sore throat and that he was fatigued by the traveling.

I’m sure it doesn’t matter as people will still bash him and say is all made up (it could be) but I thought it was fair to share what Amick said on the radio.

by eduardo_m7 on Jun 17, 2009 6:07 PM PDT reply actions

Agree,,,I assume he's really ill

He’s got s trong enough agent to say no if they didn’t want to do drills. Hope he feels better by tomorrow.

Sounds like with some rest he'll be okay

I’m kind of surprised he was so busy and active given all the traveling he did to get here

If you've ever flown from Europe to LA

You know it’s a killer. Especially if you can’t sleep (excited? nervous? too much noise?) on the plane.

Jet-lag just caught up with him. I’m glad he’s not pushing things and making himself really sick. Some ibuprofen, some sleep, and he should be good to go.

The good news is that he probably won’t travel to another city, being sick and all….

The draft lottery has reinforced my belief that there are not enough bad words in the English language.

Good call

I prescribe 8-9 days of bed rest. Better safe than sorry.

A little on that

and of course I know you guys were kidding but this is the first time I hear of such rule

After Rubio watched the Kings’ workout with lesser prospects this morning and had lunch with Kings folks immediately after, a sore throat and fatigue have changed the itinerary. Per draft rules, he can only stay 48 hours and must be gone around 2 p.m., so that’s the time frame with which he and the Kings have to work

Interesting

Guess we have to break out the CDC quarantine. I hear Ricky may have that new Torro-Flu that’s originating in Spain.

Good thing he's a tough nut

and won’t have to do crazy things like fly in airplanes when he’s in the NBA

he can always take a few weeks off during the season when he gets the sniffles.
And forget about when Deron Williams or Brandon Roy breaks his ankles.

Just take it light and eazzzzy. Kings are used to it.

Yeah

Because intercontinental flights are the norm in the NBA.

This guy’s been playing at the highest level of international basketball since he was a pup. Question his toughness all you like – you’re Richard Simmons compared to him.

On a positive note:

at lease this ruins Ailene Voison’s one good scoop of the year. Now she can go back to dreaming about a 3-way with Bill Laimbeer and John Whisenant

For what its worth.......

My brother (who is a legit 6’6) just ran into Rubio a few minutes ago at Sac Intl. and he shook hands and spoke briefly with Rubio…

First question I had was “Is he a legit 6 5’?”…..My bro laughed and said he’s 6 3’ at tops!

Just thought I’d share with the team-

Not bad...

I actually laughed a bit at that….Cant wait to tell me bro. (He’s a former all-Metro 1st team baller whose skills are declining by the year..ha)

My second question for him was.." Is he cool or is he a dork? Cause he looks like a maggot in all the pics I see."…Bro responded that was actually a nice guy in the brief few minutes he spoke with him, which was good to hear-
