Latest Ramblings on Draft day trading
They are some kind of crazy over at Draft Express. Or rather not crazy but reporting rumours that seem CRAZY!
Draft Express Scroll Down to the Memphis Thabeet thing
To break it down they are talking about swapping picks with memphis with either of Shock & Hawes as "compensation" for the trade. Just nuts that we give one of those two up to move up two spots in this draft.
What say you the heaving huddled masses?

I'm OK with Gasol
and #2 for #4 and one of our big kids. I just don’t think that deal would work for Memphis.

Kings going forward
To steal from Bill Simmons and from Oklahoma Situation, any team needs 3 great players as a foundation for a team, then you find other players to compliment the players have. Do the Kings have any foundation players, to me you have Kevin Martin and two maybes and the real maybes on JT and Hawes, (maybe this year will tell us more).
I’m conflicted in wondering that maybe the Kings are awful and maybe they should wheel and deal to find that one great player, or do you wait to see what you have with Martin JT and Hawes and wonder if you will have 3 solid players who on the Kings you will have a team with a limited upside.
Looking at the league are the players the Kings have not a good match up with the way the elite teams are going, look at the Orlando system of swing men who can hit the three and Dwight Howard to dominate inside (not that JT or Hawes are in his class in any way shape or form), But teams who can play small ball, having a number of athletic midsized players who can create match up problems for the opposition.
Maybe this is just me venting on the lack of talent on Kings teams of late. OK scratch the maybe. Look at all the players on the Kings roster and imagine where they would be playing on other teams? I can’t see to many starting on other quality teams.

Best chance
of ending up with a couple great players surrounded by complementary pieces, unfortunately, is to start from where we are, ie a couple of high lottery picks.

does not make sense.
hawes and thompson are young, skilled bigs. why would petrie give up either one of them to move up two spots? petrie would only do that for a sure thing (e.g., a can’t miss prospect like shaq or webber or for a young, already established player—someone like b. roy or a. horford).
petrie will only trade up if the price is reasonable. there is no one in this draft who is worth giving up a young big in order to move up two or three slots.
