Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

I spoke extensively with sources inside Rubio's camp to get a feel for what's going on there. Here's what I know.

Only the Kings have a physical for Rubio. Only the Kings have actually seen his contract. And only the Kings have gotten a visit from Rubio. That could change with the possibility that Rubio could still meet with the Thunder and, less likely, the Grizzlies, but that's where things currently stand.

It's pretty simple as to why Rubio is being selective: He is going to have to pay a lot of money for the privilege to play in the NBA next season. His buyout will cost him something between $5 and $7 million of his own money. That's a lot of money, especially when you consider that Rubio wasn't making a ton of dough in Spain. He essentially will be signing over his paychecks for the next couple of years to his team in Spain.

Another thing from that article.

Presti is interested in Rubio but everyone thinks they’ll take Harden (everyone thought they were going to take Lopez last year)

Presti wants more assets

And he wants to use Rubio to gain them. The problem is that the Kings won’t deal with OKC’s demands any more than they will deal with OKC’s. OKC and Memphis are both stuck in the “if they take Rubio”, they could see Rubio stay in Spain despite how unlikely it is.

OKC has a better chance to get Rubio to come over, but I really think OKC is trying to take advantage of Sac here, and Sac is doing everything possible to simply say stop the games. Either take him, or don’t, but don’t think we’re caving in either. We can’t afford it.

If we draft Rubio and he stays in Spain

Ill personally fly to Spain and give him a good ol american butt whoopin. If theres any real chance he doesnt wanna pay the buyout, she shouldnt draft him. easy as that. Trade down and take Flynn or Holiday

On the other hand

If he stays the Maloofs save money this year, we suck and get a good pick next year, and we save enough money to not sell off this years 23….and we get to prove Beno really sucks , Crap…I thought that sounded good for a second, but after I wrote it…nope it still sucks

I like

this idea and I did also think about this. I think it could wind up being a best case scenario – but not for impatient kings fans. But then again, Beno is going to be a great backup and as soon as we get a starting PG Petrie is going to look really smart for tying down beno for backup.

Which brings us back to...

John Wall, draft class of 2010.

Yes, this again.

Wall will be the Blake Griffin of the 2010 draft

… He’s the only PG DX has in the lottery … that draft appears to be shaping up as the opposite of this draft … light on 1s and 2s and heavy on 3s and 4s.

If you’re team looking for a PG, this appears to be the year.

and we get to prove Beno really sucks

That’s like proving gravity really works by jumping off a building. Can’t we just agree that’s the case without anyone getting hurt?

Beno

has mental problems. No really, I dont mean to be mean, but he seems to have self-esteem issues.

if the kings draft rubio

It would be levin time.

I am interested to hear that the kings got to look at the contract. That probably will go more into thier decision to draft him or not.

I heard

on NBATV that there is no question that Rubio will play next year. The only question is the price he will have to pay, but he’s not being blocked from playing and this was according to good sources on NBATV. Hope the Grizzles did hear that.

Thats what I was thinking

If only I would pay for insider I could get this great insight into the depths of what is going on. I just read it and thought OK, now what.

Well...

who says that we’re gonna get rubio just because he only comes to sac?! Also, I’m affraid another team will draft him (ie., Mem or OKC) just for his overseas marketing capabilities. I could see OKC doing this (Presti) since they just moved and could sell some merchandise in Spain.
