Video Q&A with Stephen Curry
I've loved this kid since last year. Tell me it wouldn't be exciting to see him and Kevin Martin go off for a combined 50 points a night.

He could be Rookie of the Year in pure scoring ability.
But I don’t see much upside past scoring. We need a facilitator. I actually have a feeling that Petrie will take him (great shooters anyone?) but we’ll see. I can’t wait till the 25th. 5 more days of uncertainty and speculation.

I think he could be a better distributor than we think
The kid seems really coachable and willing to learn and get better. Plus, he’s only really played PG for one year in college in he did a damn good job at it. He was also Davidson’s only scoring threat which changes how you have to look at his stats. His assists would’ve been way higher if he had other people to rely on to score the ball. Plus, his scoring efficiency will rival Kevin’s because he won’t to score through double and triple teams all the time.

One concern
He said that, in sharing the backcourt with Kevin Martin, it doesn’t matter who has the ball in his hands and who’s filling the lane.
Yes, it really does in this case. I don’t want KMart having to handle the ball a ton.

I want him to improve his ball handling
But a facilitator Speed never will be.

Agreed
Which is why we need someone who wants to be the playmaker, to get his teammates the ball in the right situation, and has uncanny court vision to do so.
Someone who has the mentality of “guards are interchangeable” I do not want.

Yep
The “interchangable guard” thing stopped around the early 60’s.. Maybe Steph is Dell Curry in disguise?

So what about Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge?
They were interchangable in some ways.

With the #4th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft the Sacramento Kings select Jonny Flynn!!!!!! I can feel it!!!!!!!!
Could see them giving up close to 50 a game too.
As long as the big guys can hold their own too, that may eventually be a .500 team.
Find a way to add one more difference maker (the hardest part), and then we’ll have something.

Agree with everything you just said
I’m still hoping they find that superstar difference maker in this draft. Curry is a solid scorer, but there’s not much chance that Curry becomes a superstar.
If we become a .500 team
next year, it’s because we draft Jesus Christ and he does 25 miracles per game (introducing the new stat mpg).
No way we’re gonna win 41 game next year. If we could end up with 30/35 wins, it would be a great result

He said eventually become a .500 team
Meaning, if we draft Curry and keep the current team intact, then he would expect them to be a .500 team once they mature, which I agree with. But yeah, it would take a miracle to win 41 games next year.
Just a question
It seems that in many of the interviews with prospects, they are unfamiliar with that team’s star players or style of play. Wouldn’t that add to their appeal in the interview? I know its alot of research but on an interview for a million dollar job?
Curry does seem to fit in the Petrie mindset (or trap as in the Douby pick.) One good thing in terms of Curry’s unknowns is you can apprise ball handling, and defense in these workouts. Getting pretty excited!
You would think so, but many are just badly prepared by their agents
In Chicago executives were laughing about the hyperbole some players displayed (Harden claimed he could jump higher than Vince Carter, and was talking about some All-Star crap), and how learned and regurgitated many of their statements were. Curry is a pretty good interview and no doubt a smart player. The best guy coming through the interview process in Portland so far was Darren Collison. He knew pretty well about the team needs and players he would have to compete with for playing time, and was able to still show a need for him without dissing them. And it always helps if you seem genuinely excited about the possibility to land on a certain team. Who knows where a player really will end up and where he would like to go best, but as Curry himself has found out it doesn’t help to always talk about one team when other could pick you higher (for more money).
These aren't regular job interviews
Most companies want to make sure that you genuinely want to be there, so that they know you won’t leave after a year if you find something better. NBA players have to sign contracts, so the team doesn’t haven’t to worry about a player leaving when a better opportunity pops up. He’s stuck there, so it doesn’t matter how excited a player is (or pretends to be) to go to a certain team or how much that player knows about the team at all.
The only reason they do the interviews is so that they can gauge the player’s basketball IQ and capacity/willingness to be coached and fit in with their system.
Yeah, he sold himself short w/ NY comments
But NY is a big market and that comes with its own perks if you can hit the big shots everyone says you can
I wouldn't mind Curry on this team
There’s way too much talk that Curry’s just a 1 dimensional player. He’s actually improved upon his previous year, upping his assist numbers to 5.6 assists per game on a team with no real scoring threat, except for Curry. I think his offensive shooting game is comparable with Kevin Martin, since he’s able to create his own shot and often uses hesitation moves to get to the line ala Martin. Put Martin and Curry on the Kings and the Kings instantly become a 3 point threat, clearing up some pressure off Martin in the process.
Still very intrigued by this:

A nice breakdown by a guy who has seen a few guys run the floor in college before jumping to the NBA. High praise indeed.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
Jonny Flynn or Tyreke Evans
shit, i dont im tired of guessing… when will thursday come???!!!!!
I checked on the Intarwebs
It’ll be here immediately following Wednesday.

If we're gonna take a combo guard
I would rather take the defensive one, which is Evans. Curry will have a solid career but like people have said he doesn’t have the star potential that a guy like Evans, Rubio or Flynn has. That said, i wouldn’t be surprised at all if he was the pick.
Curry wouldn't be so bad...
… if Rubio is off the board. If he is the 2nd coming of Mike Bibby, we can expect some good things from him. He’s seen as a scorer – that would take some pressure off Martin, and spread the defence for the bigs. He says he can run the point and distribute the ball – I say give him a chance. Remember, you only get an assist if the other guy makes the shot. He’ll get more simply because K-Mart will score off the pick with a catch-and-shoot, Garcia will hit the corner 3 from the drive-and-kick, and JT will run the floor on the break and finish.
Now, if only he can defend…
