"Thabeet was a combination of he's had some shoulder situations and he wanted to talk to some other teams," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said of the 7-foot-3 center out of Connecticut. "It's also what goes on this time of the year with guys showing, not showing, that type of thing. The gamesmanship of the draft."

So is that a nice way of saying, "yeah, he blew us off too?"

Who cares.

At the end of the day they still have Chris Wallace running their team.

And whoever it is

they will be ticked off.

The draft lottery has reinforced my belief that there are not enough bad words in the English language.

About the only player of note that seems to have worked out for the Grizz

Was Evans.

They should take Jordan Hill

why is everyone so down on the guy? I was in attendace for every game this past season at Arizona. He never stops working hard. He LOVES the game of basketball. Not to mention hes oozing with talent. Hes only played since his junior year of HS. And teams are passing on him? Hmmm…

Why is everyone down on Hill?

Mikki Moore hair. A ridiculous answer, yet the only viable one that I can find.

I saw a lot of hill both his soph and junior year...

his improvement in one year was dramatic. He has great size for a NBA PF and a plays even bigger than his size with his long wingspan. Looks like he can easily add another 10-15 lbs of muscle on his frame without slowing down. He has great timing on blocking shots and rebounding and has a great post game for a young big and is worlds stronger/tougher than Mikki Moore. He keeps the ball up high when he shoots and has a solid midrange game from 15-17 ft and a nice fadeaway/stepback jumper in the post. He’s going to be a solid starter. I know most people here are really high on Thompson and so am I but I think Hill is a more traditional big who will do a lot of work on the block. I see a lot of dunks and jump shots from Thompson and not really an array of solid post moves. I think Chris Bosh comparisons are fair. Maybe he’s not a #4 pick but he’ll be gone in the first 8 picks.

This is a stupid move, unless

he has a promise somewhere in the top 5. During the lottery, it was pretty much know that the top three picks were griffin, rubio, and thabeet. Now, Thabeet’s draft stock has been falling, and I don’t think it would be in his best interest to cancell a workout. I bet even if he wanted an individual workout they would have given it to him. And he scheduled a workout in Memphis so I get the feeling that he’wouldn’t mind as much playing there. I think he has a promise witht the thunder.

Promises, promises

Let’s run a hypothetical – OKC “promises” Thabeet that they will take him at #3 if he is available, as they figure that they will take him or Rubio, whichever one is available. Now let’s say that someone pulls off a deal with Memphis for the #2 pick, but they choose another player (Evans, Harden, Hill, whoever). The Thunder never thought that Rubio and Thabeet would be available, but there they are, and they take Rubio. And the fall for Thabeet begins, as none of these teams have seen enough of him to risk a pick. The Kings, Wizards, T-Wolves, Warriors and Knicks all take a pass, and now 8 picks have gone by and Thabeet is still in the green room.

Risky business.

Memphis and OKC are probably the best fits for Thabeet

so if he doesn’t get picked by them, I’m 99.9% sure the Kings don’t pick him. Washington might, Minnesota probably wouldn’t since they have Jefferson and Love in their frontcourt (could they make Love play SF?), the Warriors probably would pick him since he’s so quick for a center and Biedrins could move to the 4. Knicks also might pick him since they need someone at every position, especially if David Lee is leaving. Don’t see him dropping past the Warriors though.
