Paul Westphal Reportedly Hires Staff

Sunday, we passed on word that Paul Westphal appeared to be ready to hire longtime Clippers assistant Jim Eyen as his lead assistant with the Kings. The Bee's Ailene Voisin backs up those reports, and says that Westphal has also agreed to hire Mario Elie and Truck Robinson as assistant coaches.

Elie has been rumored as a Westphal assistant for months, and it could be a fair assumption that Geoff Petrie -- who nearly hired Mario three years ago as the team's head coach -- made such a suggestion to Westphal. The Clippers let Eyen go as a part of cost constriction efforts. Truck Robinson's name is Truck.

(But seriously, he was a bad ass rebounder in the '70s and '80s. I have no idea what he has been doing since. I hope he can teach our big men to be bad ass rebounders.)

Eyens excepted

If the Kings guards could be Paul Westphal, and our SF Mario Elie and Frontcourt badasses like Truck Robinson – that would suit me just fine.

On effort alone the Kings would win games, which is what I am hoping to see as one of the biggest improvements this coming season.

Nothing against Eyens, just not a player

So, if coach Robinson

is getting belligerent with the refs from the bench, can we yell

“Shut the Truck up”?
