'Trust Geoff'
Mitch Germann, the Kings VP of Business Communications, posted this photo on his Twitter this morning.
I asked Mitch what the balls say on them. His reply:
"Trust Geoff" ... haha.
I'm with it.

Having some major technical issues
But it’s probably just my work network.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Anyone get the feeling
that Petrie is just loves toying with everybody from the FO to the fans and even other teams?

Seriously.

He is paired off against Chris Wallace
Talk about the cat toying with the mouse. The sad part is the Grizzlies believed they could shake the Kings down. Instead, they have witnessed a basketball management clinic to there interest’s detriment.
I'm curious whether Petrie is really messing with anyone
He seems to place a lot of value on ethics and his relationships with players and other general managers. I just don’t see him trying to screw someone else over.
With the 4th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Rickeke Flynenningday, point guard from Europe, Memphis, Syracuse, UCLA and Parts Unknown.
Not about screwing the person over, it’s about keeping your poker face. Despite all the gasoline Memphis has tried to toss onto trade rumors Petrie hasn’t flinched. Now the rest of league cannot figure the Kings move. It’s mind boggling considering there has been 800lb pink elephant named Rubio sitting in Sacramento for over a month and everyone’s convinced they don’t see it.

Exactly
If Rubio falls to us at #4 and we take him (because he’s always been who we wanted, since before we got screwed by the lottery), to me that solidifies Petrie as one of the all-time great GMs in the history of organized sports.

How the Kings have managed not to get jumped for Rubio at this point is amazing. First they had to manufacture his value low enough to get him to drop to #4, than they had to keep every other team from moving up and getting him. The Kings already have a tremendous player at SG, yet Memphis and OKC are convinced they cannot trade down because the Kings will grab there SG. Petrie’s even managed keep Donnie Walsh from holding all the cards by targeting both Flynn and Curry.
Unless Rubio is a bust

I don’t see how Rubio can be a bust. Talking about a guy who can already dominate a game with ball handing and passing alone (Mark Jackson quote). I don’t see anyone being able to stop him consistently from doing it.
I agree actually
With the 4th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Rickeke Flynenningday, point guard from Europe, Memphis, Syracuse, UCLA and Parts Unknown.
This is irrelevant to my point
which is that Petrie shows just how good he is at his job if he’s able to get the player with the #4 pick that he would’ve taken with the #2 (or maybe #1) even though every other team in the lottery wants his guy too, and many of them are in a pretty good position to move in front of us to get him.
It’s like everyone’s been staring at a red hat, but Petrie’s the only one that got a closer look and he’s been able to convince everyone that what they thought was a red hat is, in fact, not red at all. Maybe. We’ll soon see.

Maybe the other GMs
Are on to Petrie and are hoping for that scenario because Rubio’s going to be a bust and a guy like Evans drops into their laps.
I dunno either way, I’m just sayin’ – I think the actual talent of the player Petrie might be working so hard to get is an important part of the equation.

I don't think he'smessing with anyone
or tryint to screw someone over. He’s just being himself, a quite and different type of GM. Others go crazy because they just can’t read what Petrie is going to do. That’s just the way Petrie operates
I agree with Otis
When does Petrie lie? He doesn’t lie. He doesn’t have a poker face. He just places a value on a pick or on a player and if he doesn’t get it he doesn’t accept less.
I really think what is coming out of the front office, assuming it’s accurately reported, reflects what’s really happening. I don’t think Petrie puts a lot of value on smokescreens and BS.
Talk about the cat toying with the mouse. The sad part is the Grizzlies believed they could shake the Kings down. Instead, they have witnessed a basketball management clinic to there interest’s detriment.
Erm…the Kings have done precisely nothing so far. Not sure how that’s a basketball management clinic.
That's fair
I was arguing that teams have done everything they possibly could to shake the Kings into making a move or at least tipping there hand. Not only have the Kings not managed to flinch, no one has a gauge on them. In fact, everyone else is afraid of moving around on the top half of the draft board because they all believe the Kings are targeting their player. Talk about turning the tables.
Ball don't lie.
The draft lottery has reinforced my belief that there are not enough bad words in the English language.

Stop the insanity…

Perception is strong and sight weak. In strategy it is important to see distant things as if they were close and to take a distanced view of close things.

It seems awfully quiet so far today
