Freshly tweeted as well
Minn., obviously trying to go higher than five (translation: No. 3 to OKC since they’ve been rebuffed by No. 2 Memphis)
With the 4th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Rickeke Flynenningday, point guard from Europe, Memphis, Syracuse, UCLA and Parts Unknown.
If Minny wants it
Picks 4 and 23 for picks 5 and 18 work for me, since the Kings aren’t interested in Rubio anyway.
Not me
IMHO, one spot in the top 5 isn’t worth 5 spots in the high teens.
On the other hand, D. Lee + #8 would get er done for me. Not waiting around though.

yes...yes, hell yes.
Flynn and Lee in one fell swoop.

I believe it has to be sign-and-trade
And if it materialized, I’d assume it’s bye-bye K9.

Don't worry
We still have Beno as the resident Albatross.

Vince Carter just traded also.
Trade is for Alston, Lee and Battie. This is going to be a crazy day.

Depends on how it impacts the Hedo signing IMO

I don't think so
They didn’t give up that much and got a really good player. If Vince can play some D I think they’ll be pretty tough.
They are trying to find a piece to win a championship
So I think it’s a good gamble on Orlando’s part.

It addresses their biggest flaw
while giving them EVEN MORE three point shooting power.
Vince is a pretty good player in the clutch, he knows how to go to work quickly to get a bucket at the end of 4th quarters. He’s hit a lot of big shots. Him and Hedo will be a mean combo out on the wings.

No. Carter is a pretty big aquisition for a contender.
How can you stop Howard with Rashard Lewis, Hedo, Carter and Nelson. Great mix of shooters, passers, post players and slashers.

WTF is going on in the world?
You and I are agreeing on almost everything these days.

I'm not so sure
Orlando seems willing to flirt with the luxury tax to resign him. With Carter in tow, it wouldn’t surprise me if Hedo cuts a hometown deal with Orlando to try to get a title.

Again we agree- not agree to disagree : )
Maybe we should sit together for the draft!

I think so
Howard isn’t old. Neither is Lewis. Neither is Nelson. How is Carter better for the long-term franchise than Courtney Lee? Carter is a bigger name, but other than that I don’t know how much of an upgrade this is.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
They're thinking short term, not long term
This is the type of move you make when you’re trying to make a push for a championship. You sacrifice your youth to win now.
Yep
If I’m an Orlando fan I’m pretty stoked. Ownership is trying to win right now.

As they should be, considering they were ing the frickin finals this year
good deal for NJ, too. Harris/Lee is a quality young backcourt, and they have their center in Lopez. FA $$ next summer for a PF and/or SF. They’re probably dreaming about LeBron and Amare or Bosh…
Exactly why I think they shouldn't be
They almost won it all. The rest of the East is getting weaker, in my opinion. Cleveland continues to surround LeBron with guys who just keep getting older. That team’s average age is like 34, based on my mental calculations and no facts whatsoever.
Boston is an older team. They’re already shopping Allen and Rondo. And KG and Pierce have a lot of miles on them.
Who else is contending in the East? This move feels desperate, and I don’t think they needed to make a desperate change.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
The east is getting weaker
Even more reason to do this IMO. Put some separation between your team and everyone else.
Plus, they aren’t just trying to hurdle over the east, they’ve already done that. They need a piece to win the whole enchilada.
Now this could come back and bite them if Carter ruins the mix somehow. But I don’t think they were getting past the Lakers by standing pat. It’s a risk, but there is the ultimate reward to consider.

Terrific Trade for Orlando
They also acquired Ryan Anderson who will be a solid role player behind Turkoglu and Lewis.
What is New Jersey going to do with Alston? Is Devin Harris really being shopped as well?
"geez its like this site is so serious i jus wanna git mai opinyons on tha Kings out there ok" - TZ
He was a malcontent
as soon as Nelson returned for the Finals. You’re right though in that his contract obviously comes off the books after next season and New Jersey is gearing up for a run at LeBron, etc.
I do think however that a Harris-Lee backcourt would be excellent defensively. Supposedly though Harris has been offered to Minnesota in a three-team deal that would land the Nets Rubio and Craig Smith.

Ryan Anderson
I think getting Ryan Anderson could be a steal for the Magic
Bad Trade for Orlando
Lee still young and with great promise. Alston stepped up big time, and actually led the team well. Should have had more minutes over Nelson when he came back. Battie, well, I don’t know.
Carter: can he still do it? Strange as it may seem, Lee may actually have more upside at this point in time
I think its a good trade for both teams
Orlando gets a piece to try to win a championship next year, while New Jersey rids itself of Carter’s contract and gets a young swingman stud in Lee. Long term this is better for Jersey but all worth it if the Magic win a Championship next year.
Father of the "Natt this!" movement.
david lee?
He’s a RFA… can he be dealt with that status? wouldn’t mind getting Lee and #8 (Flynn or Holiday) for #4.
by longtimelistenerfirsttimecaller on Jun 25, 2009 2:15 PM PDT reply actions
Nope
He can’t be traded. It would have to be completed as a S&T, which would be complicated because Lee, the Kings, and the Knicks would all have to agree on everything.
Lee and Walsh may already have something worked out.
Certainly Lee will have some input on his destination but if he knows the Knicks aren’t going to keep him , he can still use them to get the best dollar possible.
I’m just dreaming of this:
Flynn, Beno
Martin, Garcia
Terrence Williams (#13 via #23, #31), Noc, Donté
JT, Lee, Diogu
Hawes, Lee

Negotiations can't begin until July 1
and why would we want to pay top $ for someone, in your scenario at least, who would be a bench player. And one that would not address our interior D needs, at that.
huh?
Our biggest interior need is rebounding and there aren’t many better at that. Our second biggest need is muscle and hustle…and he provides that. The RFA issue is legit, but if an “agreement” is worked out now and consumated after July 1 that nets us Lee (who would start IMO) and we still get Flynn, I will help carry GP through the streets on my shoulders.

Rebounding is the biggest factor to defensive success IMO.
Lee, Hawes, and JT would out rebound and out hustle every other team int he league. Sure they aren’t great individual defenders but as a three man rotation they would be amazing.

I'm with LPKingsFan
The Kings need an interior defender as the backup big. Lee is a good rebounder, which would help, but who in the heck is going to play any defense out of JT/Hawes/Lee?
You would need to have some lockdown defense on the perimeter
Double whammy there…

Not out of the realm of possibility
…and a great start at re-building. I am not crazy about Lee, but if he was reasonable in salary demands, he is a good solid PF in a rotation that you indicate.
I can't believe that Lee would back up JT
Lee’s wayyyy more proven than JT IMO.

Chad Ford Mockery Draft 7.2
Still Rubio at the #3 and Evans at the #4
With the 4th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Rickeke Flynenningday, point guard from Europe, Memphis, Syracuse, UCLA and Parts Unknown.
DX also moved to Evans today
after Flynn yesterday. The Bee’s been predicting Evans, too…
So, it’s going to be Curry then.
If Ford posts this 3 straight times with 30% certainty each time,
does that make him 90% sure?

This may be the last year
I even look at a mock draft. With all the BS being put out there by front offices, I think every team aside from the Clips has had at least three or four players projected on every site!
I'm hoping that in a couple of years
we care a whole lot less about the draft.

Michael Jackson passed away.

Crazy.
Are you sure he died? I’ve only read he was rushed to the hospital.
TMZ.com
Reported he has died. Haven’t seen anything on the major websites.
Weird, sad day…let’s hope that’s not an omen for our draft.

Andy Katz: Brandon Jennings will not be coming to the draft.
According to a statement from agent Bill Duffy: “Because we do not have a strong grasp of Brandon’s draft position, I’ve advised that he and his family enjoy this day in a more private setting with the people he loves the most. Brandon Jennings will have a very illustrious career in the NBA, and at the end of the day, that is all that is important.”
