Kings Select Omri Casspi of Israel With No. 23 Pick

Omri Casspi became the first Israeli to be chosen in the first round of the NBA Draft at Pick No. 23. Casspi reportedly had a great workout in Sacramento a few weeks back. Donté Greene watched the audition, and noted that Casspi was "tough." And that's reputation he's built: he reportedly drew blood on Austin Daye at a workout in New Jersey.

The Kings left rebounding beast DeJuan Blair on the board. In fairness, everyone has left Blair on the board. I guess the MRIs which have been circulating were seriously bad.

New thread coming up for the second round.

Should be 38th pick

I was just on ESPN and it looked to be a done deal.

In the draft thread

someone said he wanted to and that he was really hoping he wouldn’t be picked by a team that wanted to stash him in Europe

Same thing I said

I was a Rubio guy for sure. But Casspi makes it all click for me with Evans.

Supposing they can all play

Our team is gonna be huge size-wise at every position.

EXACTLY!!

Match up problems every night for the Kings’ opponents. I’m psyched for next season.

That was gonna happen no matter who we got.

Barring some kind of crazy trade for Griffin where we don’t give up much and him being better than expected.

Casspi has attitude

I don’t see too many European players pop their collar like Casspi does. It’s like having a young Hedo with swagger and attitude. I dig it.

I like this guy - a lot

still worried about Evans though

why are you worried about him?

I don’t get all the panic and disgust about the pick.

If you're not first ... you're last.

It's not because we don't like Evans (at least me)

It’s because I don’t buy into him as an NBA PG… So, because I like Martin, Evans is the wrong guy, IMO… Not sure how close that is to what everyone else thinks, but it’s my view.

If the Portland swap works

and we get someone at 38 who is worth a look into then I feel better. At least the team will get some attitude and toughness which will be nice to not be a team you ad your stats with

I prefer Heytvelt or Calathes...

I like Brown but I don’t see how he’d fit with Casspi, Greene and Nocioni…

Of course, DeJuan Blair and Sam Young are still available

But aren’t expected to last until #38…

He is going to be gamer

He has height to shoot over the defender, can drive to the basket and has a bit of an attitude.

With Evans and Casspi, the Kings added a lot of toughness to the team.
