Now that the draft is over, thank God I only inflicted a surface wound, it is obvious we need veteran big man help. Petrie himself said that he would be addressing this in free agency. Looking at the King's salary situation , after the draft, I figure the team salaries to total between 51 and 53 million, counting the 2 million owed to Moore.
I have not drank the Diogu Kool Aid and have fears that the end of last season may have just been a blip. My thought is this, rather than sign Ike to a 3 or 4 year deal, and then find out the old Ike returns; why not just pick up his option for 3.9 million? This would give us a year to evaluate him, and still leave a little wiggle room under the cap.
It also would give us 2 expiring contracts, including Thomas, to use as trade options.
I think this gives us flexibility, and a veteran, with very little risk.
