Kings assistant GM Jason Levien has as keen an eye for overseas talent as anyone in the league. If he didn't feel strongly enough about Rubio to take him, that says something.

Phil Jackson, after treatment for a kidney stone "When the anesthesiologist leaned over me, he said "We named your kidney stone Kobe because it's not passing."

I think we know more about the Kings than that writer...
pretty sure he meant GM Geoff Petrie…

But
Levien is the assistant GM. He could have been touting Rubio the whole time, only to get overruled by Petrie and the more tenured Kings staff.

Here's what I took from it
… the GM gaff aside.
Between Petrie and Levien, the Kings probably had the best resources and did the most of anyone in the league to evaluate Rubio’s talent and contract situation – the Kings took a pass.
Memphis, flew over and met Rubio – the Grizzilies decided there was less risk with Thabeet.
OKC flew to LA met with Rubio, invested in a lawyer to review his contract – the Thunder took a pass.
The three teams who had the most information, did the most due diligence all passed on Rubio.
Then the team that stated their goal was to make splash in draft, took Rubio, essentially sight unseen. Now look at the pickle they’re in. Rubio’s camp/father have gone Ringo Starr on them – “no, no, no, we don’t want that , no more.”

almost the "No No" song
“no thank you please it only makes sneeze”…. that is okay but then it goes
“and then it makes it hard to find the door” not the case here.
you soundtrack well Mystic. And I agree with your take, rec’d.

There was no gaffe
You cut off the two words before “GM” when you made this fanshot. The article says “Kings assistant GM …”
I agree with your comment, though.

Maybe Ken Berger hasn't lost his mind
I’m not sure you can judge a draft day the day or two after.

It feels like this was a move
more for next season than the seasons beyond it.

How
Tyreke was a freshman in college too and he most definitely has tremendous potential. I don’t understand why Tyreke is a more short term pick? It’s not like he’s 25 or something and has no where to go but down. The guy has a nice ceiling and will be a good building for the Kings going into the future.
BOOK IT!
