Wish List
I've seen a number of posts: The Kings should look for a big, or for a SF, or for a PG. Here's my feeling: Stand pat. The mid-level guys Petrie's brought in the last few years (Shareef, Beno) have bombed. But they've brought in some potentially effective talent via trades and the draft. 'Cisco has played great at small forward, and with Greene available, they've got two borderline starters--one of whom may emege this year as a legitimate player. Nocioni is a great 6th man, backing up SF and PF. Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes are the frontline of the future, and I hope they bring back Diogu to provide a little depth (and give him a chance to show what he can do). The guard rotation has potential, with K-Mart, Tyreke, Sergio, and Beno. I love the trade for Sergio: Let's see what he can do. They've got one solid SG and three adequate guards: Give one a chance to step up and be special this year. Maybe Tyreke will be good. Add some cheap filler and see what happens.
If the Kings do pursue somebody, I'd like to see them go after a guy like Raymond Felton--a young PG with promise. I'm not sold that Tyreke is that guy, and definitely not in his first year in the league. (I think he's going to end up at SG.) I think Kleiza could be a good addition, at the right price. They could add a guy like Brandon Bass, but he's not going to be a difference maker. Hedo would cost too much, and he's too old for this team. I'd love to see them reach for a guy like Millsap, but that's going to be in the way of JT's development. So yeah, keep the cost structure low, see what you've got, and make a smart trade mid-season to dump Kenny Thomas and add somebody who can contribute if the opportunity comes along.

P.S.
My post was not meant to disregard your thoughts. Actually, I agree. Money spent without know “what we’ve got” is (most likely) money lost. Lets see where we are in a year, and enjoy the extra $ we’ve got.
In the mean time…

On the original post...
If we’re going after a RFA PG, I’d rather have Ramon Sessions than Raymond Felton. Sessions is likely both cheaper and better. I really don’t think we’re going to bring in any PG though. I expect to see a backup center signed, likely someone like Zaza Pachulia, which would be great. Chad Ford thinks we’re going after Nate Robinson, but I don’t see it. He doesn’t really fit unless he’s willing to be a bench combo guard.

We're not signing either of them
Stopping reading a post after something you personally disagree with is pretty dickish. God forbid people have differing opinions.

Stand pat or...
go all out. Make the big splash and trade for Bosh. What would it take? Probably Jason Thompson + K9EC? Maybe not more because Toronto knows he leaves anyway. However, there could be competition, so…JT + KM + either AN or FG for Bosh and DeMar DeRozan?
Could it be splash time?

WHAT?
You are asking us to give up KM (our best player) and JT (are next best player) for Bosh (their best player) and DeRozan who is their rookie? Eh, no, i’d give up JT+K9 for Bosh, so Hawes, Bosh, and K$ but no don’t give up K$ unless we get LeBron, Wade, Cp3

Maybe because
Bosh is one of the top 10-15 players in the league, and Martin is not. If it takes a package that includes Martin to get Bosh (with ane extension), count me in.

With
As much as I like Kevin Martin (and I think it is pretty well documented), Bosh > Martin. I wouldn’t want to give up too much more than Martin, since Toornto would be moving him based on a decision not to extend him. Martin and Garcia would work, as would Martin and Udrih. I think Martin and Noc would work, too.

I'm not sure Martin and Garcia will work
But I’ll try it anyway.

Something to keep in mind
I think it’s very important to see how Tyreke Evans fits in this puzzle first. I know you guys are not suggesting moving Speed right now but I think Evans will be a very important part of the equation when it comes to even thinking about trading Kevin.
If Evans is truly a 2 and proves to be a very good player, then moving Martin becomes an easier decision. And if we are trading him, Bosh would be my first target, for sure.

Martin for bosh Sounds good
If sergio rodriguez could play the point and move tyreke the freak to the 2.
i just wanna point out that spanish chocolate was 7th in the league in assists per 48 minutes among point guards…

trade kmart
martin(8.7 million) Udrih(5.5 million) and nocioni (8 million)
for
Brooks(1 million) and mcgrady( 20.3 million)
This would give us a PG of the future, a veteran wing, would allow tyreke evans to move to the 2. and clear up a ton of cap for next summer.

Why does anyone think
that Brooks is any more of a PG than Evans. I like Brooks, but dude is a chucker.

To expand on that -
Udrih averaged an assist every six minutes last year, while Brooks averaged one every eight minutes…with better talent around him.

My assessment of the Kings
I think you’ve got to say you have some positions covered or have the potential to have them covered, then leave those areas alone and focus on upgrading the talent/potential at the other positions.
PG: The Kings obviously felt it was important to upgrade at point guard, and I think you have to give Tyreke Evans a solid shot to run the show and see what you have. Our starter last year could be our No. 3 point guard now, so I think you have to say we have strengthened this position or at least positioned it better for the future.
SG: Although I am not a diehard Martin fan, he is a solid player and capable, efficient scorer and probably should be retained for the time being. I think when you think about dealing him is when you are closer to contention and he becomes part of a blockbuster package aimed at upgrading the team. This might happen if the Kings draft a shooting guard next year.
SF: I’d rather go young here and play Casspi and Greene. Probably a position to focus on cleaning up the logjam and improving over time depending on how the young-uns develop. I don’t think Garcia and Nocioni are the answer going forward, and one or both of them should be dealt.
PF-C: I like the potential of Thompson and Hawes, but think we need a third young player that is as good or better, plus a cheap, decent smash-mouth backup with an attitude. An enforcer type. For now I am willing to give Brockman a chance to become that third rotation player, but that might be a stretch. I like Brandon Bass, and that might make a decent offseason pickup if the price is right.
I want the team to be competitive and am hoping for 30-35 wins. I’d be happy with 25-30 wins if the team shows continued potential for improvement. Let’s see a lot fewer blowouts, and let’s win some of the close games we could never bag last year.
