2009 StR Community Draft Board: Pick #17
Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Hasheem Thabeet, Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, James Harden, Jrue Holiday, Demar DeRozan, Jonny Flynn, Jordan Hill, Jeff Teague, DeJuan Blair, Earl Clark and Eric Maynor are off the board in the first 16 positions on our board.
Reminder: THIS IS NOT A MOCK DRAFT. This is draft board, a list with the order of prospects you'd like to see the Kings pick. In other words, if we were the Kings front office, when our pick came up, we'd take the top name left on our board. So pick your choice, not who you think Petrie or anyone else would choose in a slot.
Explain your choice in the comments, and lobby for who should be added to the next pick's choices. Poll will remain open until 8 AM PDT on Friday.

Danny Green
I’m an admitted Tarheels fan, so I happened to see more of Green than a lot of these guys (Hansbrough excluded, obviously). I always liked what I saw. Lots of potential. Good length and quickness. I like him a lot.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
I used to think he'd be the best out of that UNC class...
But man, the numbers on Ty Lawson are through the roof.
So, now it’s not so clear to me.

It'll be interesting
I think Lawson is a safer choice, but lower ceiling. Green has a high ceiling, but it’s less clear where his “floor” is. I’d take Lawson over Green, but at this point in the draft board I like Green.

Terrence Williams again
I think he can help a team even if he isn’t the perfect prospect.

I think he's probably the best player on the board potentially
But I’m not real sure how he helps us at all unless you’re moving one of your players out.
The thing is G, that players like Mullens and Lawal I would prefer, but at the same time, that’s not the point of this board. At this point you go with BPA, or you should.
I don’t know. I think Williams is pretty likely to be a lottery pick unless shows up completely awful.

Was joking
As we’ve said before, I think that just about anyone you would draft at this range is going to help the Kings.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
I know you were "joking"
I was just making a point. Cuz a lot of people are missing the point overall I think of what the “community” draft board means.
My point G, is that if we had to draft Williams at 15 or 17th overall, I would rather trade down to a lower pick to get a player that I think would be there. Then again, I don’t know anything. Trading down doesn’t necessarily mean much.

I'm with you
The draft board is a tricky thing at this point. We’re in the teens, where we won’t be picking unless we make some trades. We’ve started thinking of guys we like in terms of who might be available at 23, so suddenly we’re in the no-man’s abyss.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
Yeah the no man's abyss is a great way to put it
A lot of those guys may not even be on the board, or players we don’t even want to consider at the 31st overall pick.

Went with Hansbrough here
just love his energy
"Even when I’m old and grey, I won’t be able to play it, but I’ll still love the game." — Michael Jordan
Go Kings!
I find it funny how
Hansbrough’s measurements at the last combine did more for his draft stock than the last three years of his basketball career combined.

Rodrique Beaubois, PG, France
Have you watched this guy’s highlights? He’s a freak athlete with freaky length. I think he could be a great bench scorer for years to come. He could be Petrie’s signature guy taken way higher than people think pick.
Maybe at 23, but we're only at 17 here
I understand voting for the guys you’re rooting for at 23, but there’s still a likely lottery pick on the board in Williams.
Terrence
He’s my pick and he will win here I think, but I chose Danny Green because I think he may be one of the most underrated players in the whole draft. He’s a strong, fluid 6’7" small forward that can rebound, shoot the three effortlessly, is fearless, is a big shot taker and maker and has a high basketball IQ. If he would have played for a school with less talent I really think he would be a mid-first round pick.
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
Just throwing this out there...
I’m a big ACC guy, do any of you draft types know why Toney Douglas hasn’t been talked about more? He’s a highly efficient scorer with high usage and consensus seems to be that he’s relegated to the 2nd round, but I can’t figure out why.
Height maybe?
I’m not saying he deserves to be up here at #17, but he might be a nice add for a team.

Wow!
I knew he was a senior, but I didn’t know he was a senior senior.
What is it with FSU? Isn’t Al Thorton eligible for medicare?

At FSU,
you have to account for jail time.
(Note – check my profile. I am an FSU fan, which authorizes me to make such a statement.)

Chris Weinke
was 29 when he was a senior at Florida State. I think he is the only NFL rookie ever to have his knees give out halfway through the season.

Oh and F U Section
I am a hurricane alum and thankfully was there before the whole thing fell apart (2000-2004). Saw wide right 3 in person at the orange bowl, it was glorious.

'Cane Alum here as well
and as I have mentioned before – in South Fla the guys from Tallahasee are known as the semen holes.

Terrence Williams.
Best player available. Then I’m gonna stump for Beaubois.
Father of the "Natt this!" movement.
Scratch that.
Put Casspi on the board and I’ll stump for him. Then Beaubois.
Father of the "Natt this!" movement.
Calathes is going to Greece yes
but not leaving the draft. So you can still draft the rights to him.

Sorry Terrence
The position of “combo guard from Louisville who takes dumb shots” on the Kings is already booked solid
At least he makes enough of those dumb shots that I'm not too upset with him.

James Johnson
I get the feeling that I’m going to be picking my Johnson for several days…

This is obviously a male dominated atmosphere
When a BJ gets twice as many votes as a 6’8" Johnson, that tells you something about the StR demographics.

Gotta take Mullens
He was a potential top 5 pick and I think he has a good amount of potential for the Kings to gamble on at #23. We could use a big man.
I’m obviously talking in reference to the 23rd pick but I think Mullens is better than the rest. We could take a gamble at 23 aka. Kevin Martin at 26. I don’t think anyone of us would’ve been too disappointed had Martin busted. It’s time for a gamble at 23.
BOOK IT!
I went JamJo
He seems to be the most viable of the remaining candidates for “possible NBA starter but first option sent back to bench on a bad team” role. Has the complete package for a mid teen pick – very skilled but with a very real flaw – in this case – very strong doubts about his head, drive and focus. It is mentioned in every capsule about the guy.
He is a bigger version in many ways, of Terence Williams. You can’t teach height…I will opt for the 6’8" version.
