A offseason for Donte Greene

since the kings may not resign mccants those minutes could go to greene, he fits perfectly on the the roster. let garcia mostly play 2-guard and some 3 but let greene back up nocioni and he could rotate to the 4 as an extra big body. he's 6-10 so he'll have the hight advantage over most wingmen and it doesn't hurt him on the defensive end either, look at turkoglu. resign diogu and draft another big body with the 23rd pick and the front court is set. use the 4th and 31st to trade up for the 2nd pick and get rubio.

next seasons line-up

PG. Rubio - Udrih

SG. Martin - Garcia

SF. Nocioni - Greene - Garcia

PF. Thompson - Diogu - 23rd pick - Greene

C. Hawes - 23rd pick - Diogu

Also left out the 31rd pick

Seems like a reasonable idea and I like it. Anything that gives Donte more time on the court is a good thing

Used to trade up for Rubio

But I can see how you missed it, it was sort of an after thought.

Well

He’s a very interesting character.
Fought on the evil side, but was well respected by both sides.
How much he followed orders and how much he rebelled is sort of up in the air.
A good bad guy.
Read more about him, and it becomes a nice sort of thing to think about.

Maybe in a twisted and simpleton way you can compare him to Ron Artest.

He's on my wishlist

Perfect draft for me:

  1. (or trade up for) Rubio
  2. Casspi
  3. project big man. But not foreign. That would be too weird, even for Petrie.

I'm not enamored of Casspi

He’s too much like Greene, and the Kings don’t really need him anyway with Greene, Nocioni (more like Nocioni) and Cisco around.

The Kings desperately need a player like Brown or Lawal at that 23 pick. (Maybe even both.)

Casspi's a 3

at 211lbs he wont be able to guard too many power forwards, we could draft him and leave him over in europe for a year then when he comes over, trade nocioni who will be in a contract year i think

Sounds like

A rookie point guard and the same guys who won 17 games last year and the 23rd pick.

Still holding out hope that we make a trade and get a game changer, but I’m not exactly holding my breath. That kind of trade would no doubt include Martin and maybe even Thompson and another player, and maybe a future pick.

No game changer

Don’t even get your hopes up that the Kings don’t suck this year. Just hope the young guys get better.

Game changer

Maybe Rubio is our game changing savior. Look at what Chris Paul’s done in New Orleans. A good distributor can be game changing.

You missed the point

No trade needed

if K-Mart stays healthy and we get Rubio who could have a Derrick Rose type of season we’ll be solid

But Rubio is not Derrick Rose

I’m just saying don’t expect him to be. All the hype aside, he’ll be a project for a little while.

Dont underestimate him

he has played professionally since he was 15, and its not like he’s strait out of high school or a one and done college guy.

KINGS WILL BE 09-10 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 7, 2009 4:17 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, but he's never played the NBA style of game before

The different rules and team-oriented style of play in Euro ball helps mask his lack of athleticism. I definitely think he’s savvy enough to be a spectacular player some day, but it’s going to take him a while to adjust to playing against NBA caliber athletes while learning a new style of play (that probably doesn’t suit him as well as the one he plays now). I just think you’re setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect him to light up the league like Derrick Rose in his first year.

by Charlieb on Jun 7, 2009 4:33 PM PDT up reply actions

impact on a 17 win team

We all know he is no Derrick Rose, being that they are two players of two different styles of play. Rubio is a distributor and not much of a scorer as Rose which wont be that hard to translate to the NBA level. You don’t have to be physical to pass the ball. Besides as long as we win more than 17 games i wont be disappointed.

KINGS WILL BE 09-10 CHAMPIONS

by haze0945 on Jun 7, 2009 4:57 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm more concerned about his defense initially

But I agree that they’ll surpass 17 wins this year. Maybe I just misunderstood how MUCH of a difference you were expecting. I’ll be happy with any kind of improvement as well.

by Charlieb on Jun 7, 2009 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions

he is an otherwise normal body type, but tall, 18 year old

he is not LeBron or Reign Man. He has to grow up. It is okay, but he still has to do it. An 18 year old body against men in their 20’s and 30’s who are superb physical specimens. He is a project.

by betweentheeyes on Jun 7, 2009 6:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Left turn

What about k9 , pick up diogus option if they want him and future picks for David Lee?
What else would we need to throw in now that he is on the block and they want nothing that effects 2010?

by ElRonToro on Jun 7, 2009 3:01 PM PDT reply actions

I like David Lee

But there are probably some other teams that could use him a lot more. Somebody will overpay for him, and hopefully it won’t be the Kings.

by Charlieb on Jun 7, 2009 4:35 PM PDT up reply actions

True...

but it will be a sign and trade for everyone …so its whover can unload the most cash for them…we can absorb some cash…..and give them a contract (s) that end in 2010. As long as they don’t try to make us absorb more (Curry) I would at least discuss it with them

by ElRonToro on Jun 7, 2009 5:01 PM PDT up reply actions

If Petrie makes any trade that lands Curry in Sacramento

I will personally fire bomb his house. Short of that, I’ll keep an open mind.
