N.O wants to trade CP3
For cap relief? OMG this is our chance to trade for one of the best PG's in the game! I'd have to give up K$, K9, and JT, but i'd do that to have CP3, Evans, Garcia, Noc, Hawes. I love K$ and i would hate to seem him leave but I love CP3 in a Kings Uni more. Now IDK if the money is right with us giving up K$, K9 and JT but my question to everyone is what are you willing to give up? Who are you willing to send to N.O in order to grab one of the best PG's in the game. A player that can bring Sac to the playoffs on his own. Though we've seen that he cant take us any further on his own, but with a young core of Evans, Hawes, and Casspi i think he can make it work. If anything watching CP3 and Evans on the same floor would be great! What do you think?

What the hell?
Ok, slow down, breathe.
First, we need sources. A quick browse led me to find a mention that Paul thinks he could be traded, but I didn’t see anything where the team said they would be trying to trade him. So, without a source, your entire premise is shot.
Second, expand on your idea so you can present a clear idea. You admit that you don’t even know if the salaries work. Try the trade machine. See if it works.
Now, I understand your concept was “Here’s what I would give, what would you be willing to give?”, but you didn’t even explain why you’d give up the players you mentioned. Offer something more than a kneejerk reaction.

We can berate
Or we can try to teach. The former is fun, the latter (hopefully) could lead to better stories.

I prefer berating because that's my style
I’m glad there are others who disagree and try another way.

I tend to berate
when the person (in this case shadowchicken) has consistently shown that he won’t accept teaching.

Umm...
I don’t think Paul is going to be traded… ever. Unless Cleveland does an LBJ for CP3.

IDK if the money is right with us giving up K$, K9 and JT
WYCVEFFOIYW onto ESPN’s Trade Machine.
Do I want CP3? Like a fat kid wants cake.
Does it make sense to give up Half our team to roll out a ridiculously small squad that would crushed on the boards every night? Probably not.
Clean your pants, bro. Besides, it’s unlikely Paul gets traded away from NO, unless the team’s plans are to move to Seattle.

well
so lets say we could somehow get this trade to work and we send out k$ JT and K9 and in return we get CP3 and …wait for it…PEJA. this would hurt us in the cap but it would give us a veteran, certainly draw fans and it would give a solid mold for Casspi to model after…
check it out it works

It’s not a good idea, though, to get an old, injury-riddled, cap space eating guy, even if he was a fan favorite.

You don't trade young superstars
You pay them and build around them. Chris Paul may want to leave New Orleans, but there ain’t a chance in Hades New Orleans wants to lose Chris Paul.
Good links and backup though, you almost had me convinced.

There have got to be
at least a dozen teams in a better position to deal for CP3 if he is available. Teams do not give up MVP-type players for even the most attractive of our assets.
For example, put together a deal of Martin, Thomas, Thompson and Hawes for CP3 and Chandler ( a guy that NO tried to give away last year), and if I’m NO, I say no.
No matter how you put it together, this dog won’t hunt. We just don’t have the assets.

If you went to At the Hive right now and they heard this
They would literally get into laughing fits over the idea. (This is the same Chris Paul that Henry Abbott has credited with saving basketball in New Orleans.)

We have no chance unless Geoff Petrie has incriminating pictures of NO's owner
NO wants to save money, this is true. But why would they send Chris Paul to us when Marc Cuban has already offered to take their two worst contracts off their hands if they give the Mavs CP3?

Man, i knew someone would post this. .
i read the source not long ago and thought it was the most blatant “take out of context” interview i’d read in a while.
Here is the ONLY relevant bit where Paul is quoted
“In this league, anything can happen,” said Paul, at the summer league to watch his Hornets. “I can be dealt.”
Paul then was asked that surely he can’t be serious he could be traded.
“It’s possible,” he said. “It’s possible.”
All he says is that it’s POSSIBLE he could be traded. . man, of course he can be traded, ANYONE can be traded. . he was asked a simple question, he gave the appropriate answer. He’s not the kind of guy who says, “No, it’s impossible for the team to trade me”.
Everyone went nuts over the article. . here is the follow up where the relevant info is
“I have not nor will I enter any discussions for him,’’ Bower said.”(Trading Paul) is not going to happen. I think what Chris said just shows his selflessness that he’s not different than anyone else on the team.’’

Just disband the franchise. How many talented PG’s are they going to just give up because they can never pay a bill. Eliminate New Orleans and Portland (ya, you f*&@ers! I remember that article back in June!) and move a team to the East Conference.

Dude, after the collapse of the Seattle franchise,
the PacNorthwest needs at least one team. I say move Hornets to Seattle.
After all, if you got rid of POR, there’d be no teams from the northwest in the “Northwest” division.

The franchise didn't collapse
Clay Bennett moved it, and payed a considerable amount of money to do so.

For sure
I didn’t mean a financial or fan-base collapse. I just meant the “sudden” failure of the Seattle area to have an NBA franchise, kind of like collapsing a tent, packing it up, and moving it to a new location.
Either way, it’s a crime there’s no Sonic basketball. I don’t care how much money dude spent on the team. I’m still pissed.
And worried that it could happen here, too.

It's all business...
Sure it’s a crime that there’s no more Sonic Basketball, but instead of laying the blame on the feet of Clay Bennett and co. who did nothing but follow the ideals of capitalism why not actually look at the situation and realize that if the Washington Legislature had ANY political will at all then the Sonics would still be in Seattle with a new Arena Deal. It was the Politicians and their penny-pinching ways that made the Sonics move to OKC….
Now on whether the fact that by leaving Seattle, the Sonics saved washington state from going into a similar budget impasse as a few other states….that’s an argument for another day

Public funding of an arena is not actually capitalism
It’s corporate socialism. (And it is, I might add, a philosophy to which both major political parties have utterly sold out.) If it was incumbent on all the team owners everywhere to figure out how to fund new arenas without public money (as it should be), that would be capitalism.

Still kinda capitalism
if the City makes a profit from the taxes revenue and jobs created by the arena.
Joint venture stuff like that.

Debatable whether there is ever a net benefit to the public for that kind of expenditure
Point is, I hate it when politicians spend huge public money in support of billionaires.
Wait, where else have I seen that? Oh yeah. Everywhere. Viva capitalism, 21st century style.
Anyway, maybe we should go back to talking about hummus (see Omri Casspi Profiled in the NY Times thread).
