Kings 09-10 Season
The kings already have young and developing team and are in "rebuild mode", but as they continue to build this season who do you predict will have the most impact on the court for the kings and why?
I would like to point out that both Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson could be in for a breakout season, Tyreke Evans is a rookie (just pointing that out but you'd have to be stupid not to know that, I mean its all over STR), and Kevin martin has been the kings number one scorer for i believe the past three years but correct me if i'm wrong. Also there is potential and hope --but mostly hope-- that the kings will aquire a big name player before the deadline. But it will certainly be an interesting season and hopefully an exciting one come october.

The
main thing I really wanna see this year is Kevin Martin play at least 70+ games. But there’s other stuff I’m excited for …. JT’s growth …. the rookies …. Even if they’re the worst team again, I’m excited for the season.
Sugar ... water .... and, of course, purple.

I agree
It will be great to see what Westphal(spell check?) puts together and i cant wait to see what JT does this year i think hes gonna be a beast, at least a 15/9 guy.

Martin
If healthy, he is still by far the best player on the Kings. There are some guys that could close the gap this season, but they won’t overtake him. Not yet.

I didn't go with Martin
because I think he will bring what we have come to expect. It’s great, but it won’t be a significant new impact. I want to say Evans, because I really want this to be an impact pick that blows everyone’s minds and begins paying dividends immediately. I jus think it will take a little time to develop. So, my vote is Hawes, who I will pick to jump into near-All-Star territory this season in a weak world for centers.

Spencer is the key to progressing thru the season
The team wants to run the Princeton offense through him. He’s got to find a comfort zone in the post than he has make plays for everyone else.

We want to run the Princeton??
Didn’t know that. I guess I missed the press release

Kings PR really needs to release these things in Spanish too.

Sure
They probably need to release them in ‘stupid’ too

Could be if...
We end up trading his expiring contract for a big time player

Easy Answer...
The guy with his hands on the ball ALWAYS has the greatest impact on their team. This was a no brainer!

JT
The biggest jumps players make in terms of improvements usually come right after their rookie year. I expect Evans to be good…but he won’t put up super stellar numbers his rookie season. JT will have the biggest impact, based on last season.

I thought it was usually the third year...
The “make or break” or season, in which player growth experienced the biggest jump.

The third year
Is where they are declared a “bust” or not, but about the second year stat jump i am not sure but it sounds right. But i have a feeling that JT will be the highest scoring king not named Kevin Martin.

It is Kevin Martin's year to lead
and that gives him the most impact. He is the reliable player on the team. The others are ifs, maybes and hopefuls. The impact of Noce, SHawes, JT, Evans (and Greene, Casspi, Garcia) are game to game.
The impact will be not just scoring, but durability. This is a different Kings team when Kevin Martin plays or is injured.

This is Kevins year to elavate his game to All Star status
or to be known as a great draft pick/elite scorer who you can’t count on or build a team around. In terms of Kevin’s long term reputation I think this year he is playing for all the marbles.

I love Martin's game...
but I don’t think he is a guy you build a team around. He is the ultimate scorer and excellent tandem piece. But I don’t see him as a team anchor. No leadership and not physical enough.
Guards that you build around seem to have both a natural leadership instinct and a more physical style (a la Kobe, Wade). If the hype is real, that means we either build around Evans or possibly JT (but JT would have to show unreal growth – to the point of being dominant – this year to take the spotlight). I’m not sure that’ll happen.
Still, we need someone to emerge. I kind of hope it is Evans, because JT and Hawes are good players, Martin is borderline great, and if Evans can be the superstar, all the pieces are just about in place to let the team develop together and start contending again.

I think Evans is gonna be the franchise star in two years.
Martin is an excellent #2 piece, and Spence and JT are great at what they do, especially if they improve ( I rather hope JT becomes more adept at scoring inside). Now we just need to hope one, or both, of our young SFs pans out and we should be a darn good team.

I don't know about impact
but the guy I am pulling for most to do his job is Westphal. This team desperately needs a coach that the team, fans, management and owners don’t dislike 30 games into the season. I really just hope he can be a promising coach with the young guys and at least give us the possibility that he will stick around for more than 2 years.

I'll give you 10-1 odds today
If you want to bet Westphal’s over under at 2 years.

at 10-1 I can't lose
but ill do a 50-50 gentlemen’s bet and take the over. I think it would take a lot for the maloofs to admit they screwed up AGAIN and they will do whatever it takes to make it work.
