Kings Make Right Choice In Evans
Nothing really shocking here, but pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about the Evans selection. Enjoy...

Sums up most of our feelings nicely.
I was disappointed we skipped out on Rubio too for a second, but I’m happy with Evans. The guy is a beast. I freaking can’t wait till July 10th. I want to see him absolutely dominate Detroit’s summer league team.

I sure hope
that Petrie picking Evans means that Petrie is convinced that Evans has more potential to become PG than most other scouty-types do.
His 3.9 assists to 3.6 turnover ratio last season at Memphis doesnt demonstrate that he has special passing and decision-making abilities. And a review of tape reveals that he is mostly an isolation and slash type player (as adevertised). So we did not draft a PG, in my opinion—but I hope that Petrie is convinced that he can make Evans one.
Changing over to the PG is difficult. I think it’s difficult to change how effectively one makes on-the-fly decisions. It certainly requires (at least) repetition and duration, which Evans will get.
Here’s to his development and evolution!
Memphis lost their 3 best players last year
One was Derrick Rose. The other was Chris Douglas-Roberts. The only player they really gained was Evans and they went 31- 3, and 27-1 with Evans as a point guard.

Indeed
It’s a good point: Dude played point guard they WON.
I guess we could take away from his time at Memphis that he is very good and played point guard. I’m hoping that Petrie drafted him knowing that he can become a good point guard, not just be a good player and play the point guard position. A convoluted point, I know.
Now that Rose-Evans backcourt wouldn’t have been too bad, eh?
Very nice read.
Agreed, Aykis! I don’t think a team can go 27-1 with a player who doesn’t ‘get’ the 1 position (plus they beat major teams outside of their conference). I’m psyched about Evans and I have no doubt he can run the team. I just hope Kings fans show the same patience they would have shown with Youtubio in the first few months of the season. Can’t wait till Friday’s first summer league game.
