Show Us The Money

ESPN's True Hoop had an interesting article on NBA revenue that will be coming to Low Payroll/Low Revenue teams such as the Kings. In a nutshell, the Kings have some pretty serious cash headed their way:

1) Luxury Tax payouts: 23 teams under the luxury tax will get 1/30th of the taxes paid. Comes to around $2.9 million per team.

2) Money from NBA's escrow Funds. Because of overall low revenues last year, most of this money is being paid back to the teams. How much? According to the article, about $6.5 million per team.

3) Additonal luxury tax money to low revenue teams. The 7/30th of luxury tax money that was not distributed per 1) above, goes to low revenue teams. The article did not say how much, but looks to be in the millions for each low revenue  team, say $ 3.5 million.

From the above , the Kings are look  at receiving something like $13 million from the league in the very near future.

Let's hope the team puts some of that money at work to improve the team. How about a sign and trade with the Knicks for David Lee?
