"$100,000 of [Sean May's] deal is not guaranteed. May can get that $100,000 back if he shows up on either Sept. 30 (before the start of training camp) or Oct. 27 (before the start of the season) and, at either time, weighs 265 pounds or less."

nice find wabut, rec'd

Peter May of the BGlobe with some noteworthy news and comments in the mid-summer.

I like the incentive/disincentive but if it were me I would prefer an “and” in place of an “or” in this deal

The Kings signed May to a one-year deal for $884,881, the veteran minimum for a player with four years’ experience. But according to a league official who has seen the contract, $100,000 of the deal is not guaranteed. May can get that $100,000 back if he shows up on either Sept. 30 (before the start of training camp) or Oct. 27 (before the start of the season) and, at either time, weighs 265 pounds or less

though I don’t understand how they can sign May for the minimum and have a penalty which pays him less than the minimum.. I also don’t understand who at the league office broke what is most likely a confidentiality.

I don't think it matters

… if he shows up for camp at weight, once he starts running, playing and he’s under the thumb of the trainers, it’s likely he will stay in shape. If he’s over, he has until the end of camp to make weight.

If he’s as committed as he has appeared in his interviews, I suspect he will come into camp on weight.

i hope he makes

the weight! I wish someone would give me 100,000 for losing weight, shit i wish someone would just pay for my gym membership! If he makes the weight, he might be a nice 7 or 8th guy off the bench
