Empty The Bench: Introducing the 2010 All-Rookie Teams -- Tyreke Evans
"Tyreke Evans, PG, Sacramento Kings - Like other players on both the First and Second All-Rookie teams, Evans is walking into a situation in Sacramento where he’ll have little to no competition for starting minutes and will be given every opportunity to put up respectable stats. It won’t matter if they come during garbage-time blowouts, which Kings fans should expect to once again regularly suffer through this season. At least they’ll have the electric Evans to entertain this time around.
At 6-6 and 220 pounds, we can only see this year’s fourth-overall pick playing the point until SG Kevin Martin is shipped out, which could be as soon as this season. (Tell me, again, how the one-dimensional Martin fits into this team’s long-term "plans?") Until his inevitable move to SG, Evans will run the show and give Kings fans hope for a better future with his ability to get to the rim, draw fouls, and distribute the ball to an emerging frontline headlined by Jason Thompson Sean May [name originally striked out] and Spencer Hawes. Again, his field-goal percentage could be ugly–I’ll be surprised if it’s much better than Russell Westbrook’s 40% freshman effort–but he could easily lead this rookie class in scoring."

How does Kevin Martin fit in the Kings long-term plans?
The ability to score 30+ a night on 12 shots.

Seriously, UH-DOY.
This Martin-hate is beyond me.
The ability to score 30+ a night on 12 shots.
Anyone besides me and that bastard Aykis (no offense) think any team in the league would kill to get their hands on Kevin, even if would still only be the second or third best player on that team?
There is room in KM’s game for improvement, but until Evans makes more sense at SG than Martin, he only makes more sense at SG than PG. I hope Tyreke becomes an all-star, but he ain’t even a starter yet.

Another thing about Kevin
is he’s pretty cheap for a great scorer. So many players that do less than him are paid more.

Cleveland would kill to get Kevin right now
And that’s just one team.

Dallas, I’m sure Orlando would love him over Vince, Toronto, Houston, more
Victory is tasty.

How does your best player
instantly become expendable just because we got a potentially great back court player in Tyreke? I don’t get it. I understand the want of getting players that are going to make the Kings better, but it isn’t going to happen overnight. It certainly won’t happen until the team finds out what they have by getting everyone on the court at the same time.

Yeah
This makes no sense to me, considering the very same author wants to pair Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis?
Tyreke and Martin would destroy those two. Tyrekes bigger than Monta, and Kevin’s got six inches on Curry. And none of those four players is a “true” PG.
Doesn’t make sense. I love the Tyreke-Martin pair, because we have 6’6" average height backcourt, and along with our 6’11.5" average height frontcourt, we’d have one of the tallest teams in the league whether or not you throw Greene and Cassipi in the mix. All of these guys were Kings drafted too, so you know what – I’m loving the homegrown team. Git ’er done boys.
Victory is tasty.

I'm with you guys
I love Kevin! Before we got Evans we where talking about how this is Kevin’s year to make the all-star team and now we want to throw him under the bus for our rookie who can’t shoot? I love the fact that Kevin and Evans will play together, Kevin can score at will and get to the line, and Evans and get the rim and score or get to the line whenever he wants to, So what’s so bad about having 2 guys who will end up shooting 6-9 FT’s a game? Plus Kevin is a great spot up shooter, Evans learns how to dump off to a big and a big hits Kevin in a corner, it’s going to be magic. I would never trade Kevin! (unless we can get LeBron or Wade)!

I like how they sneak Sean May’s name in between JT and Hawes.

I hope Speed-Racer reads all this garbage.
And uses it for motivation. 23 is still my favorite Kings Jersey, and I represent it on the east coast every chance I get.
GO KEVIN!

Oh in the original artice
Sean May’s name was struck out. When I copied it over it lost that formatting. If I can figure out how to edit that in there I will.

ETB's been showing the Kings a bit of love lately with this and about how JT and Hawes should improve this year
But what they say about Kevin makes it obvious that they don’t pay too much attention to the Kings. Kevin was the 7th leading scorer in the league (overall, not qualified). Of those 25 there are 5 players that make less money than Kevin:
Kevin Durant – Still on rookie contract. Also, the only player making less than Kevin who scored more points than he did, something that might not have happened if Kevin was healthy
Brandon Roy – eligible for an extension and will probably get more than Kevin
Devin Harris – not by much
Stephen Jackson – Not worth much more
Ben Gordon – Can we say “chucker?”
So that’s 19 people making more money than Kevin, and only 5 of them score more points than he does. Also, of those top 25, only 1 player has a higher true shooting percentage than he does: Amare Stoudemire, who probably benefits from being a big guy who plays closer to the basket.
So, Kevin’s cheaper than all but 5 of the top scorers in the league and shoots more efficiently than all but one. He’s getting paid less to do more. Is that worth the $9 million he’s getting this year?

Pook it
in that first paragraph I meant “of the top 25” not “of those 25”
