Kings interested in Sessions?
"There have also been rumblings the Sacramento Kings have recently inquired about Sessions. However, the extent of the Kings' interest isn't known."
Don't know how much there is to this, but something to think about nonetheless.

Interesting
Four point guards, anyone? I like Sessions, but PG isn’t exactly a need position. Unless you move Evans to two-guard immediately and start Sessions/Evans/Martin with Thompson/Hawes.
Should be
No thanks…This could possibly be another Beno Udrih like flop. However, this is an intriguing option. He can definitely pass the ball! The midlevel is definitely good value.
BOOK IT!
Sorry
What I meant to say is that I’m torn. Sessions is a nice young player and present the Kings with a good opportunity to upgrade the point guard slot if the Kings don’t think Evans is capable point guard. The current point guard slot with Evans (masquerading a point guard), Udrih (disappointment) and Rodriquez (third stringer) could be a need in the short term.
BOOK IT!
I don’t think Rodriguez should be written off as a third stringer. The Kings need talent. If they can get it for a good value, they should do it. Regardless of position.
Well
He was during his time in Portland. It was Blake followed by Roy himself most of the time and if the situation presented itself, him or Bayless.
BOOK IT!
since you use a situational comparison
a player drafted by Cleveland was little used and a third stringer and then traded to Phoenix where he excelled and eventually became mayor of Sacramento….
The Phoenix Suns also drafted a point guard who was little used, back up/third option and traded the guy to the Dallas Mavericks. He returned to Phoenix to win 2 MVP awards.
The point: Sergio would do really well in Phoenix. But he might work out well in a Kings uni, let’s give him a chance. The guy has talent and may excel with a new coach in a new town.

I didn't compare situations
Sergio didn’t work well under McMillan. I was talking about game situation not situation within a team. That’s completely different.
I agree with your sentiments though that Sergio deserves a chance to prove himself.
BOOK IT!
And that reason was
Portland isn’t much of a running team. Whether that had anything to do with Nate Mac trust Rodriguez is another matter, but I’m sure that had a part of it somewhere down the line.
I’m going to bet money that the Blazers will run more with Andre Miller around.

Talent
I’m all about adding more talented players to our team, especially if we can somehow unload lesser talents and/or bad contracts. That being said, I’m sure the Kings won’t make a legitimate move to acquire Sessions. I’m pretty much used to watching the bigger names go elsewhere while we re-sign the Benos of the league.
Sessions is a bigger name?
Lower their expectations and rise to met them
This signing wouldn't make a whole lot of sense
w/o some additional roster moves. I understand we need a talent upgrade at PG but we have already invested in some “experiments” that will need some PT to figure out if they are gonna work or not.
Maybe GP is entertaining the idea of trading K-Mart (God forbid!) and moving Evans to the 2 spot or maybe he thinks he can move beno (fat chance) but I think Rodriguez should get a fair shot at the starting PG spot before we invest a whole bunch of money in someone like sessions who may become another MLE mistake.

Martin and Beno for Stoudemire works.
Not that I’m for it or against it, but it works and saves the Kings something like $42 million if Stoudemire leaves.
Say No to Amare

No way Phoenix does that deal
did you ever hear about how much they wanted from the GSW for Amare? Pretty much every player of value they had
Steve Kerr’s asking price is way too high for that guy

Sessions has been decent for 2 years
One more year than Beno. Last year he averaged 15/7.5 as the starting PG. He’s also a good rebounder for his size. He can’t shoot the three at all but he can definitely move the ball. I could see him being a fine backup to Tyreke or even the starter the first part of the season. If we didn’t have deadweight Beno I think this would be a solid move.
Looking at the rumors, it seems half the league is looking at Sessions
Maybe he has the best agent evar.
I've been wondering why we don't go after him
he’s the best available free agent other than Lee. I know we have a ton of point guards but there’s no denying the talent he has. If we have the chance to get him I say we take it. Having too much talent is never a bad thing, especially when you need more talent at other positions that cant be filled via free agency.

Point guard is definitely a position
That could still use an upgrade. Neither of the names Beno Udrih or Sergio Rodriquez inspires much confidence as a starting quality point guard.
Tyreke Evans could be a point guard however, Evans is a combo guard, IMO.

Isn't Sessions considered a sub-standard defender?
And haven’t we learned that lesson twenty times over?
I haven’t really seen Sessions play much, and I don’t know if the knock is legit, or if it is something that could be corrected. But I have a hard time imagining the Kings making a move like this when it creates a huge logjam at the point guard spot, especially if it just reinforces their defensive deficiencies.
And enough with the Martin trade scenarios already. The Kings are not going to trade the guy, nor should they. (Or if they do, I’ll eat my laptop.) They will give the Speed-Freke back court at least one season to see if it works out. And if it does, League Beware.

one thing to keep in mind
rumors floating around are that sessions is looking to be signed at less than the MLE….
Also, remember the Clips being interested in Beno last year? This sign and trade talked about in the article could involve the kings somehow as a third team. It might even be on a smaller scale, aka not with the kings getting sessions.
Phil Jackson, after treatment for a kidney stone "When the anesthesiologist leaned over me, he said "We named your kidney stone Kobe because it's not passing."
That would be too nice
Sessions for less than the mid-level and trade Beno to the Clips? Too good to be true.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
I would be in dream-land
If we could get rid of beno period. But getting a decent player who could contribute would be even better.

I could live with the 3 smalls rotation of
Sessions Evans Martin Garcia and (Noc or Greene or Casspi). Put any 3 of them on the court with 2 bigs and not worry about position.
This might not be a bad idea
Here’s some analysis of guard-reliant teams and how well they perform
Sessions/Evans/Martin might not be a terrible idea. I think Evans could definitely play the 3, too

Good article
but this part made me mad:
This makes sense, given that the league spent most of the Oughts trying to tip the advantage in favor of perimeter scorers with modifications to the rules on hand-checking and more liberal foul calls on drives in general.
Bah, I hate Stern.
While that looks like a great lineup putting Evans at the 3 negates some of what makes him special and that is his over powering size for guards smaller than him. If you put him at the 3 then his advantage is no longer an advantage. He’d be matched up with the Artest’s Gay’s and Lebron’s of the world. I like the line up yet I highly doubt we get sessions there’s no place for him really.

I disagree
His strength is an advantage when playing guards. But if you put him at the 3, his speed becomes his advantage. Thats what makes evans so versatile.
Phil Jackson, after treatment for a kidney stone "When the anesthesiologist leaned over me, he said "We named your kidney stone Kobe because it's not passing."
Exactly
that’s why Lebron is so amazing. He’s stronger than all the guys that are faster than him but he’s faster than all the guys that are stronger than him
www.mancancook.net
how dare you imply
That there is anyone stronger or faster than Stern’s Messiah!
LeBron as omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent. That is Nike’s new campaign.

There's people stronger and faster than Lebron
but no one stronger AND faster than Lebron

Way, WAY too simplistic
Stronger vs. Faster. Really? Lebron has so many attributes that make him the player he is, that the comparison of stronger vs. faster is just ridiculous. Plenty of NBA players can claim the same. None would be in the Lebron atmosphere.
Bé foréwarnéd: I am a mémbér of StR Groupthink méntality.

It's the simplest way to describe him, yes
but its also insanely true. No current NBA player can claim to be stronger and faster than almost every other player he’ll play against. He’s got point guard speed and big man strength. Obviously he has basketball skills otherwise his speed and strength don’t mean a thing, but those two attributes are his biggest. A guy like Kobe or Wade are fast enough to stay in front of him, but he’ll lay them out with his strength. Dwight Howard can handle him at the rim, but only if Lebron doesn’t get past him.
www.mancancook.net
I think Ron...
….is the lone exception. He’s the one guy that can keep up with LeBron in both speed/quickness and strength. It’s LBJ’s SKILLS that trump that of Ron.
I love the Ramones Sessions
