A Message to Championship Contenders (excluding the Lakers)

Dear Championship Contenders (excluding the Lakers),

Are you looking for a little extra help to try to win that precious championship?  Money's tight, I know, but this is a championship we're talking about.  This is something that will pay itself off ten-fold.  So I come here to ask you this: Sign Bobby Jackson.

Star-divide

Bobby's a proven player, a former 6th man of the year, and a guy with a ton of heart.  Few people in this league truly deserve a championship more than him.  Last year, playing as the backup point guard on the worst team in the league, Bobby said at the beginning of the season that he'd like to only play maybe 20 to 25 minutes a game, if that, because of his age.  Yet in 13 games he played more than 30 minutes, including a 37 minute performance against Denver in the 2nd to last game of the season.  Oh and I think I forgot to mention he was playing with a broken face.

He could have sat out for the rest of the season after injuring himself, seeing as how there was only about a month left and the only thing the Kings had to look forward to was the draft lottery. But Bobby opted to continue playing with a face mask.  And when the face mask bothered him, he didn't say "Coach, I can't play, take me out".  He took the face mask off, and continued to play.  There was absolutely no reason for him to do this.  We had already locked being the worst team in the league.  But Bobby doesn't think like that.  He doesn't just give up, even when it doesn't matter.  He'll keep on fighting till the very end.

By the way in that Denver game he scored 18 points, had 12 assists to 2 turnovers, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds.  3 of those rebounds were on the offensive glass.  The dude can still play.

Bobby also has some mega experience.  He's been in the playoffs 8 times in 12 years, and other than the first two years of his playoff career in Minnesota, he's contributed to those teams.  He knows what its like to have that championship in sight, and then to lose it all.  And he's never stopped wanting it.

So why not sign him for a minimum contract?  Why not give him a chance to win a championship? In turn he'll help you.  He doesn't need all the minutes in the world, but you can rest assured that when you do put him in the game, he'll play with everything he's got and then some.  He's a fighter, someone you can rely on with the basketball in his hands.

So Boston, don't sign Dan Dickau, he's not going to help you as much as B-Jax would.

San Antonio, who do you have behind Tony Parker? George Hill? Hill's ok, but Jackson would eat him alive.  Plus Jackson had better stats than him last year as a 35 year old.

Orlando, if that J-Will situation doesn't work out, why not give another former King in Bobby a chance?

Cleveland, look at how badly Mo Williams choked in the playoffs last year.  You can say what you want about Bobby, but choking isn't in his vocabulary. He'll do what you want him to do, and if that means giving LeBron a championship, then that's what he'll try to do.  Plus you guys have like no depth at the point guard position.

So sign Bobby Jackson.  Put him in a position to succeed.  He won't let you down.

Love,

Sacramento

I don’t know why this hasn’t happened yet Bobby has more heart than anyone on those teams, & it’s not just that the guy can still ball. Put him in a playoffs situation & you will see how a playoff performance should be

Bobby could definitely help a lot of teams

I would love to see him hanging out w/ Bron. I think his best chance would be w/ the Spurs. Teams like Denver or Utah may be more likely.

probably too much of a 'chucker' for SA

I think Cleveland, Boston, Utah, maybe Dallas

Bobby Buckets

has more heart than T – Mac, VC, Jermaine O’Neal or many of Bobby’s generation of max contract players and elites. He’s a high character player who will give you his all. He would fit it perfectly on the Spurs or Portland.

When his career is over (hopefully not yet) I hope the FO sees their way to bring him back to the coaching staff.

I'm honored to be the 5th Rec

Great post. I hope a contender does sign him, so I’ll have someone to root for in the playoffs.

I think Bobby really wants to stay..

which is really sad since there really is no spot for him here. Otherwise it makes absolutely no sense for Orlando to sign J Will over B-Jax.
He’s a family man.

Great Post BTW.

I think he might retire actually

and stay in Sac-town. But we’ll see. He’s still got game.

Ha

Or “accidentally” break Kobe’s leg in practice, say around April?

Exactly

I know BJax wants a championship, and we all want it for him, but wouldn’t fucking over the Lakers be even better? Hell, I’d chip into to buy the man a big ass trophy and expensive ring to commemorate it.

Earlier than April

I don’t want them to even make the playoffs. Derek Fisher will cry again.

The draft lottery has reinforced my belief that there are not enough bad words in the English language.

Celtics

…would be foolish to pass on Bobby Jax. He’d fit SEAMLESSLY there.

Yea wtf contenders???

Even if they’re not a “real” contender, the Sixers could REALLY REALLY REALLY use a PG like B-Jax. Any pg really.

Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!

Really is sad that there isn’t a spot for Bobby. he is one of those players that has Kings written all over him. he is more Sacramento than anything else.
