Jon Brockman is Officially a King
It's official: Jon Brockman is a Sacramento King. Press release after the jump.
SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings today signed rookie forward Jon Brockman to a contract, according to Kings’ President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brockman was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round (38th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft and his draft rights were acquired by the Kings along with guard Sergio Rodriguez and cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to Jeff Pendergraph, who the Kings selected with the 31st pick.
In four seasons (2005-06 – 2008-09) with the University of Washington, Brockman averaged 13.8 points (.534 FG%, .612 FT%), 9.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in 131 career games. The 6-7, 255-pound forward finished his collegiate career as the Huskies’ all-time rebounder with 1,283 boards and second-leading scorer with 1,805 points. Brockman became the first player in school history to record more than 1,800 points and 1,200 rebounds, a feat achieved by only four players in Pac-10 history. A two-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection, Brockman averaged a double-double in each of his last two seasons (14.9 ppg and 11.5 rpg in 2008-09 and a career-best 17.8 ppg and 11.6 rpg in 2007-08). Brockman was a teammate of current Kings center Spencer Hawes during the 2007-08 season at Washington.

That is strong endorsement..?
Do you really think Mancakes can make that big of a difference or is this just sarcasm in pointing out that the needs of the Kings are many and the moves they could make should be extensive, but the only signing is a threat the fabric of pancake-less society?
guess

Is it really exaggerating if I said...
that this signing doubles the Kings rebounds per game?

Who were the other 3 players
to acheive the feet of 1800 points and 1200 rebounds for their careers in the PAC-10?
Trying to find out
I’ll get back to you. I’m pretty sure Kareem is one.
Father of the "Natt this!" movement and Grandmaster of the "Never let AnotherStupidSN forget what a Sham-Wow is" Order.
Found it
Here’s the total:
Lew Alcindor UCLA: 2325 points, 1367 rebounds
Mel Counts OSU: 1973 points, 1375 rebounds (all-time leader in that category)
Bill Walton UCLA: 1767 points, 1370 rebounds
Jon Brockman WASH: 1805 points, 1283 rebounds
This is from 2005 and I added John’s stats in. So was there another big in the pac-10 to have done 1800 and 1200? Cause Bill Walton doesn’t qualify.

That’s some pretty good company…
Purveyor of Bull Plop
I like him even more now
We might find we have the steal of the draft in a few years.
One can only hope. :)
all this means
is that he wasnt good enough to go pro at a younger age.

I wasn't good enough to go pro
and in college ball I scored exactly zero points and grabbed zero rebounds.

All im saying is its a cool stat
but its just a stat. Its nothing that should give you more or less hope about the guy’s potential, many other players would have had more boards and buckets if they stayed all four years.

I hope he suprises us
and can contribute a serious (I mean serious) 10 -12 minutes a game.
We need it.

So
Ostertag wants a come back, We need a cheep back up center w/ experience….He’s 7 foot. If he works out then we can sign him to a bigger and a longer contract. If not then it’s not much in our cap. I always liked him with the Jazz. I think he would be good as a back up. Give Hawes 10 min on the bench. Use May/Greene to back up JT, Garcia to back up Noc.

One year was hard enough
Seeing that man in purple for one season was horrible. I’ll take another 17 win season before I ask for him to return.

Best Ostertag moment...
…sitting behind the kings bench and watching as two girls asked him to take a picture of them at the game…freakin classic

Rather play small ball all day
Seems that If we bring somebody in while rebuilding it should be somebody who can be part of the future Kings team. Not part of the past better forgotten.
did he use up all his money on guns and canned food already?

Do IHOPs have all-you-can-eat specials? Because otherwise I may consider starting up a franchise right next to the practice facility.

Jon Brockman doesn't pay for pancakes
Pancakes pay to be eaten by Jon Brockman. People pay to watch Jon Brockman eat pancakes. Women pay to make Jon Brockman pancakes in the morning. But one thing that doesn’t happen, is Jon Brockman paying for pancakes.

Bron Jockman jokes
Are exactly like Chuck Norris jokes… except they have to involve pancakes.

Jon Brockman isn't the all-time leading rebounder for the University of Washington
the University of Washington is the all-time leader in Jon Brockmans. Pancakes.
Like that?
