Jason Thompson, Sacramento: Thompson has been competing outside the spotlight since the Kings drafted him 12th in 2008. But that's nothing new for someone who played college ball at Rider University in the MAAC. Thompson developed into one of the best rookies few seemed to know about last year, and is in a position to have a big sophomore season. He cracked the Kings' starting lineup midway through last season and averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in those games while shooting 51 percent from the field. More impressive, rather than see his production peter out at the end of the season from hitting the so-called rookie wall, Thompson's performances got stronger. His numbers in April (14.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in 34 minutes) marked his best monthly averages of the season. He may have gone largely unnoticed in small-market Sacramento while doing that, but that may not last long.

You should never reference any BEP songs made after like 1999. They’ve been terrible for about a decade now.

14 and 10 on 51% shooting in 34 minutes
I’ll take a season of that please, and a second helping of the same from Spence.

I would love that
Empty The Bench predicted a similar line from the two of them. Something like 30 ppg, 20 rpg, on high shooting with a few blocks. I would love that from these two. That makes them a legit starting frontcourt in this league.

And they're still really young
They could be a very good frontcourt for years to come.

I think Spene might average more points actually
Maybe 17 and 9.

agreed
Hawes will probably score more, he has had a lot of shots rim out that he’s still working on, more of those will go in.
I’d be thrilled with 9rbds – but I have my doubts, I’m guessing only the 8 neighborhood, maybe a little under.

Ya I'd have to agree with you, he's not a stellar rebounder
8 sounds about right.

Especially with Evans who is a good rebounder
coming in and snagging some of those boards away.

I hope his numbers will increase a bit as his body thickens out
he averaged 7.1 in just under 30 minutes last season. So, 8 this year in 35 minutes is very doable and it could ease up a little more over time I would think. He is only 21.

That's why I love Spence
He’s shown he still has a lot of room to grow even with how good he is now and he’s only 21. I think he’ll be a top 10 center in the league when he’s in his prime.

Yes,
I don’t see him realisticaly increasing his rebounds by 2 a game in one year.
As I said, I’m guessing somewhere just barely under 8.

Well this year Spence is going to be the starter for the whole year
Last year when Spencer started, he averaged 32.7 minutes, 12.4 points and 8 rebounds. So I think because he’ll probably even get more minutes at Center this year (mainly out of necessity) and by being the starter, he’ll average around 8 total. He averaged 8.5 in the month of April which is nice. Good strong finish.

I'm disturbingly keen on seeing
Spencer’s play against Dwight.
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
Wasn't pretty last year
Dwight averaged 27 pts, 14.5 rebounds, and a sickening 79.2 FG% in two games vs. the Kings last year.

But Dwight doesn't know
he has a new bionic Spencer Hawes coming at him
Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!
Watch that
you’re scaring little Dwight
