Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Sacramento Kings – 21-61 (.256)
The Kings take the honors as the NBA's worst team, both in last season's standings and this season's projections. Reasons for optimism include a return to health for Kevin Martin and the arrival of Tyreke Evans, but even that is a bit troubling, as they might end up playing the same position. Expect another long year in Sac-Town.

OMG! it isn't Labor Day and we have a replacement for

Thabeeeet!

please, for all concerned (and I know you only mean well Aykis) – can we put a sock in it until, I dunno, maybe the start of 2010?

easy pick

Expect this from just about every “analyst.” It’s the easiest choice to make and until the Kings prove differently it’s tough to fault the analysis. It would, however, be a nice surprise if these same analysts had to write about a Kings’ resurgence.

I know some folks are anxious for another lottery pick, but, frankly, I’m not interested in watching another sub-20 win team.

Maybe I'm being naive

but I’d still rather be a Kings fan right now than a fan of the Grizzlies, T’Wolves, and Warriors. I’d imagine it’s pretty hard to feel very good about those teams right now.

The Warriors...

Should actually be OK this year… The only problem they have is that they play in the West…

I think the bottom 7 teams listed don't have a chance

of making the playoffs. I’d be suprised if Houston gets to 33 wins. I think the clippers have the best chance of the 7 to crack 35 wins. I’m thinking the Kings could get to 30 if all goes well, but if I had to bet the house on a +or- 1 pick I’d chose 27.

I wouldn't count Houston out of the playoffs.

They have a lot of talent that plays well when they play their game, and Adleman is the coach for getting a ragtag group of players to play together effectively. Their basically nine players deep and have no choice but to play 48 minutes of intensity all season. If Adleman can get past his 7 man tendencies and go deep in the bench every night, the Rockets can definitely play .500 ball.

That said, I wouldn’t bank on them making it out of the first round.

Victory is tasty.

Seems reasonable to me

21 wins. I hope we can get to 25, but 21 is reasonable. I don’t agree with the Clips at 33 wins. I don’t see that happening, unless MD and Baron suddenly become BFFs.

and Boom Dizzle doesn't fizzle (health wise)

and the #1 pick stays healthy as well. The Clips were plagued with injuries, but had talent last season. They are still the Clippers.

Besides, I have already put in a request to David Stern that the Kings play the LA Clips 78 times this year with 4 LA Laker games at ARCO. Kings are winning at least 75 games this year baby! yeah!

Th Miami Heat

The 03/04 Heat went 40-42 & was 4th in the eats after they drafted D-wade. I know that was in the east & I know Reke is no D-Wade but D-wade wasn’t D-wade that year. That roster looks almost identical to the current Kings roster

my bad

east not eats

The Heat that year had

an aging Brian Grant and Eddie Jones, Lamar Odom, Udonis Haslem, and an up and coming Caron Butler and Rafer Alston, right? Thats pretty good. That and a very young Dwyane Wade is a 40 win team.

Heat was obviously better

but I was thinking Noce=Haslem, Butler=KM, JT= very poor mans Odom, Jones or Rafer=Cisco, Reke=Wade. Just wishful thinking I guess

Not to mention the amazing Samaki Walker

Ummm.... Houston anyone?

How will this team not finish last in the west? I’m sorry, but Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Trevor Ariza and Luis Scola are not going to cut it. If any team is the “easy one” to pick last, it should be the Rockets.

those guys looked like the NBA's second best team during the playoffs

Cause Rockets have a great coach

Could get McGrady back, and they play with a damn lot of grit. Took the Lakers to 7 games even after losing Yao. I don’t know if Ariza is going to be as good as he was in LA though.
