Some notes on Ely for those who don't know much about him
He’s 30 years old and been a perennial bench player for most of his career with the Hornets franchise.
His career year came in his third year when he averaged a very respectable 7.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and a block in 20 minutes.
He is a good shot blocker, and an ok rebounder, mostly on the defensive glass. He’s a defense guy for sure. I would rather he made the team than Desmond Mason, and its possible, if unlikely, that both could make the team if the front office decides to go with a full 15 man roster, since I’m sure that Ely wouldn’t get anything more than the vet min.
