They are obviously going to be a bit cautious

As well they should be with their $10-million man.

Agree

More than 45 games left. It doesn’t matter if he plays 40 or 45 as long as he is healthy when he is playing and doesn’t reinjure it just so we can see him help beat the Sixers.

I was always looking at that Sixers game for the return

Reke and Kevin could really use the road to bond and get use to one another. It’s gonna be fun

Naturally the first national story after that news

is that Hollinger thinks Kevin Martin would be great on the Suns.

"The basis for winning an NBA title is having a superstar in his prime. Not an all-star, or a bunch of all-stars, but a superstar."

by coolcatreportdotcom on Jan 12, 2010 1:55 PM PST reply actions

He would be.

Too bad he is under contract with the Kings. Jason Thompson, Tyreke Evans, Omri Casspi, Sergio Rodriguez, Donté Greene, Beno Udrih and John Brockman would also be great on the Suns.

Don't forget LeBron James, D Wade, and Chris Bosh

I think they would do great on the Suns as well

be better there. Nash is a PG, and Reke is obviously NaPG

Interesting.

I expect we’ll see a little bit of Martin (maybe off the bench?) on Saturday against the Wiz, but like everyone else, I’d expect management to ease him into the lineup. I’d say his first start will be in Orlando next Friday.

by clicc916 on Jan 12, 2010 2:05 PM PST reply actions

i disagree

they might limit his minutes but i would think he’ll start Friday or Sat but definitely by Monday. He’s our best shooter, he should have his legs under him and just needs work with his teammates

Now here's

where Evans proves that he can run the offense. His assists are going to shoot up a few notches with Martin getting back. And once they get used to each other’s flow, welcome to ’Reke-Havoc Mart featuring The Great Casspi.

We've been oddly fortunate

Martin’s injury was the best thing that could happen to the franchise this year. We’ve unleashed a franchise player on the league, given him a two month crash course on the PG position with him and Beno splitting time, and Martin is coming back healthier than ever.

We now have two stars ready to take the court at the same time. I think their games compliment eachother very well, its time to find out.

It's an Insider article, but

Here’s a link that breaks it down from a Phoenix perspective.
http://phoenix.fanster.com/2010/01/12/espns-john-hollinger-love-kevin-martin-suns/

The trade is Earl Clark, Leandro Barbosa, and Goran Dragic for K-Mart and Rodriguez…
The Suns writer says “I don’t see how this improves the Suns.”
I would say “The Kings would not do this deal in a million years” so I guess we all have our opinions. Also that Hollinger is $%^@ing retarded. :)

The NBA: "Where 27 free throws happens"

by lodisacfan on Jan 12, 2010 4:57 PM PST up reply actions

Wow...

Straight up Martin for Barbosa and trade filler? Hollinger is retarded.

by CloudyEyes on Jan 12, 2010 5:36 PM PST up reply actions

Its more than filler

Dragic and Clark still have good potential. However, we do have a good amount of youth and too much can be a bad thing.

They have decent potential,

but the highest upside either of them can reach is below Kevin Martin. It’s a horrible trade.
