First 20+ loss of the season
9 of ‘em at this point last year. Not that this makes tonight’s 4th quarter suck any less…
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
this was
eerily reminiscient of last season, but as you say this is the first time this year. We are not a good team….but we’re not a bad team either.
We’re a young team that has more potential than i can shake a stick at (what does that even mean anyways?)
Here’s to Friday! Cheers!
Section214 is my hero. Good shakes!
This kind of a loss suck
But it was way better than last year. Last year team would start off and wave the white flag before the 1st quarter ended.
BOOK IT!
the good thing
is this kind of loss is almost unexpected this season…last year you saw it coming…and coming…and coming…
When we were down 8 early in the 4th i had that uh-oh feeling and then had to check my self because these Kings don’t fold. We had a pitiful 4th qtr…it happens
Section214 is my hero. Good shakes!
Sometimes I think PW is too smart
He tries to get creative, and confuses our own guys.
There's nothing to fear but everything.

Damn. guess Im not a jinx.
I’ve only seen the final score and box score. The fourth quarter was really brutal.
There can only be one Noce!
Did the Majic really get that good or did we just blow chunks in the 4th?
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
They're that good.
They had to spot us the first three quarters. Just look at the numbers, if they had decided to play all four, they would have won by 92. Nobody wants that.

Kings blew big chunks in the 4th quarter. Oh yeah, the Magic are also quite good.
Randy Hahn: "I’ve been referred to as a playa…"
They were struggling
AND LOST TO THE WIZARDS AND I WAS AT THAT GAME.
Magic up 10 then completely choke.
BOOK IT!
blew chunks
we just stopped hitting the shots that we had been hitting before, defense collapsed on tyreke alot harder, donte went circus shot crazy, neither jt or hawes stepped up defensively or offensively, you know the deal. i have no clue why pw didnt try to throw kenny thomas on dwight. i’ve been surprised with what kenny thomas has been able to do against good power forwards/centers
1. reke needs a jumper
2. we need a defensive bigman
3. we need to trade noc
not sure that i would pinpoint
a lack of a jumper for reke having anything to do with this result
by thisismellow on Jan 12, 2010 9:47 PM PST up reply actions
i would
like i said they were able to stop his slashing game, which practically shut him down
by Harrisonyaka on Jan 12, 2010 9:48 PM PST up reply actions
and i wouldnt say they shut down rekes slashing game
he was dominant in the 3rd quarter…and sat for the first 4 minutes or so of the last (when the game was lost). when he came back in i think we were down 10
by thisismellow on Jan 12, 2010 9:51 PM PST up reply actions
yeah i said they shut him down in the fourth, but now we’re just throwing stones. this loss was on the entire team’s back, no one stepped up
by Harrisonyaka on Jan 12, 2010 10:10 PM PST up reply actions
Playing Udoka instead of Donte would help
Jt also is playing very poorly, although it was enocuraging to see him hit a couple of outside shots tonight.
The Kings made Jason Williams and Ryan Anderson look like All-Stars.

Simple.
Trade him for Dwight Howard.

Trading Chapu for Superman
I likey.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Oh, hes in the laegue two and Jayson Thomson and that Boggins dude on Milwokee, and Occur for the Jizz. Its a talented laegue.--Kfan in Korea
If Orlando does this trade, I'd throw in K9, May, Sergio and myself into the deal. :-)
There can only be one Noce!
I'd throw in most of the team minus Reke, Omri and Donte

Well damn, If someone wants the whole team, he better be giving me Maynor.
There can only be one Noce!
Not enough for Chapu!
Although I would like to have DH and Chapu on the same team. NBA champs for sure.
"Oh, y ahora ¿quién podrá defenderme?" "¡Yo!"
really? Hilton Armstrong good enough for you?
Jerome James? Eddy Curry? Clark Kent?
I really really want you to tell you that trading Noce for Eddy Curry or Jerome James would have meant we win this game.
There can only be one Noce!
This is the kind of thinking that really pisses me off.
Sure, noce wasn’t great tonight. But would trading him mean that we would have won this game (if we played it again?)?
Also, it seemed kind of arbitrary for you to just say we need to trade Noce without an explanation how it makes us better. Why? Because he kept Reke from getting a jumper? He stopped JT or Hawes from being a defensive big man? Or (from your earllier paragraph) he caused donte to throw up circus shots? He convinced PW not to put K9 in?
What exactly did he do?
There can only be one Noce!
i ve clearly been misunderstood, with all fault going to me. noc was definitely not a damper on the kings game tonight, but i definitely dont see him as a long term fit. those three points that i listed were purely my opinion on what the kings should do over time, not what wouldve won them the game tonight

A group of

9 arms between them should be able to score more than
10 points!
posted in the game thread
but IMO, the lineup to start the 4th cose the kings the game.
Beno, Brock, Sergio, Noce & a struggling JT will not get it done. Beno is definitely an oofensive weapn, but when Brockness is setting the pick and Sergio is the guy open in the corner, life is going to be tough

It will be nice when Martin returns and Armstrong is added to the lineup.
Randy Hahn: "I’ve been referred to as a playa…"
There is no way Hilton Armstrong is stopping Dwight Howard.
Sorry.

Sean May and K9 have six fouls too but no run. There was no point, nobody on this team is doing anything against Dwight Howard… The guy is freaking dominant…
by OrangeLazarus on Jan 12, 2010 9:54 PM PST up reply actions
Nobody fouled out debrix....
Nobody was even close to being in real foul trouble. The Kings have nobody who CAN CHECK Dwight. That’s not the same thing as needing 6 fouls.

No, but it will be nice to add some more frontcourt help.

Nice, no doubt.
Much easier said than done, however.

I wish I could say I'm angry
But Orlando needed this game, and it just so happens that they have a dominant talent in the Kings weakest area. That spelled disaster for the Kings given how incredible Dwight Howard was tonight.

yep...
Pretty much what I was thinking. Spencer and JT had that “I’m not driving into the lane with that guy on the floor” syndrome all evening.
by OrangeLazarus on Jan 12, 2010 9:52 PM PST up reply actions
agreed
i guess it would be great to not have to send the double team every time an opposing big catches it. as most of us believe (i do anyway), Spence would be a great 1st big off the bench!

Spence
Is the 1st big off the bench… He did not start.

but he might as well be our only center! brockness sure as hell aint one

To be honest
I don’t know what the point of starting JT at center is. The guy is having a hard enough time getting out of his funk at the 4…

Seems like every big team we play
comes in against us needing a win. we cant seem to catch a team not named denver sleeping
Beating good teams usually means just that
Beating them. The Kings have not shown the ability to do that consistently. In fairness, few teams do.

Our frontcourt is the defenition of not up to par.
We need one real all star caliber frontcourt player.

i wouldn't get your hopes up
this deal is going nowhwere i think. We’re just giving the kid an extended tryout…there’s a reason New Orleans didn’t have room for him. We need help there for sure, but I don’t think he’s gonna be it.

Why is Donte shooting so many stupid shots.
There’s no way Donte should be shooting more than Beno with considerably less minutes.

by thisismellow on Jan 12, 2010 10:04 PM PST up reply actions
both Spencer and JT seem to have trouble contolling their emotions
don’t know if it’s immaturity or whatever but when things aren’t going well on the court you can read it on their faces and see it in their play, the way they whine about fouls. I hope it’s a matter of growing up and not a matter of growing a set and manning up because i don’t know if that can be taught.

I hope we can pick up something useful before the trade dead line
This constant losing thing is really getting too me. What are we 2/10? recently.

seriously, I read last week that we got our 15th win last season on March 20th
get real, Rebuilding is hard, frustrating and ugly at times but regardless of the losses we have a team that has a future, "Reke is so speical and the rest of the young guys are going to be good. Think Okc last season or PDX two years ago. We are not that far away from at least contending for a playoff spot. we got way ahead of ourselves after the fast start.
"I make love to pressure" - Stephen Jackson
We're not even a playoff team,
and people are upset about losing to 7 division leaders in 10 games. We need to be a little bit more realistic about these games. Orlando is one of the top 10 offenseive teams and has outscored their opponents on average by 5.5 ppg. We are the 3rd worst record in the Western Conference. So, get real people, we had less then 20% chance of winning this game. But, if we hit our 3’s we would of had a chance to be in it at the end.

Didn't watch most of the game
but by the score in the firt 3 Qs, this wasn’t a 20 point win by the Magic. One bad quarter against a top 4 team in the NBA does that to your young team.
I’m totally with you HT. I just don’t know how many different ways can people say it.
The future begins now...
I understand we are going to los to better teams,
but our play in the 4th was pathetic whether we are a 15 win team or a 60 win team. If you guys are cool with this kind of performance, I want to know if you will hire me.
I don’t get the we played like shit but its okay. Our guys are simply better than that. I’m cool with the loss. Orlando is a better team but when we don’t follow the game plan down the stretch and score 10 points for the quarter I have a problem as I’m sure Westphall does.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
by nothingbutnet on Jan 13, 2010 4:09 PM PST up reply actions
Nobody is cool with 10 pts in the 4th quarter,
or giving up a big lead to GS. But, what makes you think that they didn’t follow the game plan? Maybe they didn’t execute as well as they should have, but it looked to me that they played the same offense that they played in the first 3 quarters.
Howard keep us out of the paint. None of our bigs could score in the paint. So, we shot a lot of jumpers and 3’s. We shot 20 3’s in the first 3 quarters and were 7-20 or 35% which is about 2% below our average. We went 0-7 on 3’s in the 4th, so how is that not following the game plan?
We make 4 of those 4th quarter 3’s and Howard shoots his normal 58% from the FT line instead of 74% and we’re in the game down to the end. Actually, I believe the coaching staff had a very poor game plan, by not finding a way to lessen Howard’s impact in the game. But, I’m not going to blame a coaching staff with such a young team for keeping the offense simple, and I’m not going to blame a young team for missing critical shots in crunch time.
I called this a blowout in my pregame post, so whether they give up 20pts over 4 quarters or just in the 4th, it’s the same to me. Now, if it happens more than once on the 6 game road trip, I might end up right where you are.
